"The objective of these meetings is to listen to all the relevant agents of the municipality to achieve a circular, consensual and viable transformation for Murcia, collect the measures that the participants consider important to initiate said change, as well as prioritize the most suitable actions and determine the implementation time, budget, feasibility and follow-up ”, Mercedes Bernabé highlighted. The dates of the virtual agoras The consultation phase for the preparation of the Circular Economy strategy will comprise a total of six virtual agoras, which will take place on the following dates: -March 9.

The meetings will end with the presentation of the conclusions. The information collected will be collected in the strategy The information collected through these agoras, together with that obtained through other tools such as personal interviews with key stakeholders, will be studied and evaluated for later integration in the drafting of the Strategy document during the period between June and September.

Each measure proposed in the axes will include a time frame -short, medium or long term-, the definition of the measure itself, an estimated associated budget, indicators of success and follow-up, the municipal service that will be in charge, as well as the target audience and possible external collaborators. The actions or measures proposed will be adapted to the reality of the municipality of Murcia in line with European policies and legislation on waste, food waste, circularity in the textile and plastics sector, etc. Finally, once the information is completed, in October 2021 the presentation of the final document is scheduled, which will be translated into English in line with other municipal European strategies, such as those of Paris or Brussels. European Circular Economy Projects The Circular Economy Strategy will be a document aligned with the current Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation plans, as well as with the Urban Agenda 2030. Currently, the City Council is working on different European Circular Economy projects, such as the Hoop, Valuewaste and Cityloops. In addition, within the framework of international commitments, Murcia has become, together with Seville, one of the only two Spanish cities to adhere to the declaration of circular cities, 'Circular Cities', a commitment signed by cities from different countries to continue to advance on the path towards the transition to a circular and sustainable economy.
