[Murcia pays tribute to the cartoonist MAN with a mural by Tío Pencho in Rincón de Seca (03/03/2021)

| The Municipal Graffiti Office decorates a 30-square-meter wall on the petanque court of the district | Rincón de Seca premieres a new mural that pays tribute to the famous Murcian illustrator Manuel Sánchez Baena, better known as MAN. The Municipal Graffiti Office, dependent on the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth and Ferrovial Services, continues with its plan to rehabilitate spaces in disuse or in poor condition, immortalizing Tío Pencho in the petanque court of the district, located on the street Auroros. The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, together with the president of the Rincón de Seca Municipal Board, Pedro José Ruipérez, and MAN's son, Vicente Sánchez, have visited this mural that occupies a total surface area of ??30 meters.

and in which two cartoons starring Uncle Pencho, Josefa and Pifanio are recreated. This mural has been made by members of the Municipal Graffiti Office and is included in their plan for the rehabilitation of disused spaces, which are replaced by artistic recreations to provide these areas with light and color. Rebeca Pérez explained that "since the start-up of the Municipal Graffiti Office, in 2015, the City Council has intervened in more than 40,000 square meters, building, in turn, a true open-air urban art museum in the streets of Murcia". The City Council will continue to develop this type of initiative in different areas of neighborhoods and districts since it is a highly demanded action by residents.

So far, 60 artistic murals have already been created in the streets of the municipality.

In this context, the Consistory recalls the importance of the collaboration of the neighbors to keep these spaces clean, with the aim that the actions that are being carried out last over time.
