[The municipality adds 26 new charging points for electric vehicles (03/02/2021)

| The councilors of Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, present the actions within the Efficient and Sustainable Mobility program (Moves) of the Autonomous Community | The municipality of Murcia will add 26 new charging points for electric vehicles, thanks to the incentive program for Efficient and Sustainable Mobility (MOVES) of the Autonomous Community of Murcia for the year 2019. The councilors of Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, have presented the actions that will be carried out after the granting of these grants and that will allow the City Council to expand the municipal network of recharging points in the entire municipality with the necessary infrastructure, incorporating new facilities with more power and better features, as well as accelerating the introduction of the electric vehicle and the decarbonization of urban mobility in the municipality of Murcia. Specifically, two actions will be carried out: the installation of 17 municipal points on public roads and another 9 in municipal offices.

The total cost reaches 220,950 euros, with 40% financing, which would mean an aid of 88,380 euros. “From the City Council we are immersed in a transformation process, focused on the use of renewable energies and the sustainable development of mobility, as well as new transport systems in the city and new mobility models, through the application of the latest technological innovations to improve the quality of life of Murcian ”, highlighted Antonio Navarro. For Mercedes Bernabé, head of the European Programs Service, “we continue to advance by betting on actions that allow us to transform our environment into a more efficient, accessible and sustainable space.

Actions all of them framed in the Urban Agenda Murcia 2030, in which we are immersed, and that have made us be selected to work as a pilot experience in the Spanish Urban Agenda ”. It should be noted, in relation to this aid program, its co-financing is part of the European Regional Development Fund (Feder), within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020 (POPE), specifically in axis 4 of Low Carbon Economy . With a capacity of 22kw, they will be free and intended for all citizens.

The cost of this action will be 206,550 euros, of which 82,620 will be the aid granted to the City Council. The locations will be the following: Av.

On the other hand, 9 conventional charging points of 7.2 Kw will be installed in the municipal buildings of Abenarabi, Fire Department and Infante Local Police.

The cost of this action will be 14,400 euros, with a grant of 5,760 euros. Municipal strategies aligned with electric mobility The provision of the municipality of more charging points for electric vehicles is an action aligned with the different strategies in which the Murcia City Council is immersed. Thus, this is the case of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda and the Spanish Urban Agenda, through objective 5, which states' favor proximity and sustainable mobility ', and 3, focused on' preventing and reducing the impacts of climate change and improve resilience.

' Also with its own Local Electric Vehicle Strategy, dependent on the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change (ALEM), which includes a total of 50 measures that seek to reduce polluting emissions in Murcia. Likewise, in relation to climate change, Murcia presented in 2018 its Action Plan for Energy and Climate, in which it has two strategic documents: the Mitigation Plan and the Climate Change Adaptation Plan. The consolidation of electric mobility is one of the essential pillars of the new energy model and, in particular, of the Murcia Smart City strategy, carried out by the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by José Guillén.
