[An online concert to raise funds for research at the University of Murcia on endometriosis (26/01/2021)

| The third edition of 'Endomequé' is held on February 8 and will perform Chica Sobresalto, Amaro Ferreiro, Yarea and Penny Necklace | The Endomequé Association? will celebrate on February 8 the third concert to raise funds with the aim of promoting research that the University of Murcia (UMU) carries out on endometriosis, a serious gynecological disease that is estimated to affect around 15% of women , many of which do not yet know.

The concert, which will be broadcast online from the Sala Boite in Madrid, will feature the artists Chica Sobresalto, Amaro Ferreiro, Yarea and Penny Necklace.

The funds obtained with the money from the tickets will go to the research group dedicated to Immunology led by Professor Pilar García Peñarrubia and who studies this disease.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased through the wegow platform and all the information about the association and the concert is available on its website endomeque.es.

The two concerts held previously allowed the donation of 12,000 euros to the University of Murcia, thanks to which specific projects have been financed that have allowed us to learn more about this disease, which generates significant menstrual pain in those who suffer from it and which can cause infertility.

Late diagnoses and lack of information about the disease are two of the problems faced by women who suffer from it.

Only in the last year has the UMU research group published an article in which it develops the hypothesis about a possible prenatal origin of the disease and a bibliographic review on the possible protective effect of healthy compounds contained in brassica-type vegetables (broccoli and others similar).

In addition, the method for obtaining macrophage samples (a type of white blood cell) from the perineum of healthy women has been optimized in order to establish a control group and compare with those of diseased women.

An investigation is currently being carried out with the peritoneal macrophages of women with endometriosis, which is in an advanced state of data collection and analysis; and a project has been requested from the Ministry of Science and Innovation in which it is proposed to test the hypotheses on the origin of this disease, as well as the ability to improve its evolution through the ingestion of compounds from brassicas.
