| José María Falgas, who died yesterday, was a regular collaborator with the University of Murcia during the last two decades | When the University of Murcia was about to be centenary, the portraits of its initiators, the first two Royal Commissioners of the institution, had not yet been incorporated into its gallery of Rectors of the Convalescence building.

It was between 2008 and 2009 when two of his works began to swell and almost complete - in the absence of the two Republican rectors, who will join shortly - the Gallery of Rectors of the Convalescence building.

These are the portraits of Andrés Baquero Almansa, the first dignitary of the University of Murcia, the person who started up the center and who was in charge, from his position as Regio Commissioner, to deliver the solemn opening speech with which The career of the University of Murcia began, back in October 1915, and that of Vicente Llovera Codorníu, who replaced Baquero after his sudden death and would hold the highest position of the Murcian university between January 1916 and April 1918.

The work of Falgas in favor of the dissemination of the history of the UMU includes his participation in a project of the Communication Service to disseminate the history of the center: the embodiment of the most historic doors of the last two centuries in four magnificent works that reproduced the places where the University of Murcia had functioned: the Murcian Second School Institute - later Alfonso X el Sabio and today Bachelor Cascales -, the former graduates of Carmen, the Campus of La Merced and Convalescence.

The plates, grouped in folders and entitled "University of Murcia, one hundred years with the doors open to Murcian society", served for a long time to make this part of the history of our institution known to numerous visitors received after its centenary.

With Falgas, without a doubt a friend from the University of Murcia leaves, rest in peace.
