[The PSOE denounces the 'laziness' of PP and Cs that leave those in charge of cleaning schools without charging when they are most needed by the Covid (23/01/2021)

The socialist councilors Antonio Benito and Andrés Guerrero assure that this is due to "that ugly contracting vice that hurries until the end of the contracts, so if there is a resource later, as in this case, there are grotesque situations, in the that the workers lose, who have announced a strike, and the beneficiaries of the service, which are the schoolchildren " The Municipal Socialist Group denounces the debt of 650,000 euros acquired by the Murcia City Council since September 16 with the school cleaning company, despite receiving a transfer from the Autonomous Community of more than € 500,000 at the end of November for this concept, which is "a real laziness of PP and Cs to leave without charging the employees of the cleaning company just at the moment when it is most needed due to the disinfection required by the Covid to avoid contagion".

"This is one more symptom of mismanagement, foresight and planning on the part of the government team, PP and Cs, which once again shows clear signs that it is not up to the task even during the pandemic," says the Socialist councilor Antonio Benito, who reports that the company that performs this service met yesterday with the Councilor for Education, Belén López, and warned her that she could not be paid, "which is absolutely inadmissible since this company has been providing the service without charging a euro, so it cannot pay the January payroll to its employees, as has already been announced.

For his part, the councilor of the Municipal Group Andrés Guerrero specifies that the delay is mainly due to "that ugly vice of the Contracting Department, led by Mario Gómez, which hastens the completion of the contracts to the maximum, so if later there is A resource, as in this case, there are situations as grotesque as this one ", in which the workers and the beneficiaries of the service lose, which are the schoolchildren.

Emphasize that we are dealing with employees who charge € 600 or € 700.

"We do not know how it is possible that an issue of this importance at the moment that we live, such as the cleaning of public schools, cannot be solved immediately by the City Council, thus leaving workers in a real precarious situation" .

Guerrero also points out that from the Socialist Group "we have always defended that municipal contracts be carried out with due notice and full transparency, including social clauses in contests that guarantee at all times the rights of the workers of the winning companies in order to not to leave them in defenseless situations, without collecting their salaries ".

At the end of November, the City Council signed the agreement by which the CCAA transferred € 2M for cleaning, from the COVID funds of the Government of Spain, of which the municipality of Murcia corresponded € 533,067, so the Socialist councilors wonder "Where is that money if this company has not been paid?" "What also draws a lot of attention is that at other times, when the winning companies were closer to each other, it has been possible to solve similar situations", Guerrero adds.

Antonio Benito assures that "the families and personnel of the educational centers are quite afraid between the vertiginous increase in cases of COVID and the cold so that they have to find out that the cleaners, who ensure the hygiene of the schools are going to be put in strike ", therefore, the associations of mothers and fathers have put themselves on the warpath.

"The cause of all this problem for the company, the cleaners and the educational community is that the Murcia City Council is more concerned with the usual frivolities, flowers and photos of whatever, even vaccinating, than of getting involved in impeccable management ", point out both councilors, who affirm that in other municipalities that are not the seventh municipality of Spain the service is being given without problems.
