[The City Council facilitates the rehabilitation and recovery of the historic building of the Torre Aledo de Churra House (22/01/2021)

| The Governing Board approves the extension of use of the property, better known as the Casona de Carolina Codorniú, which will host a nursing home | The Governing Board today approved the initial approval of the Special Plan project to modify and expand the uses of the plot in the Churra district where the Torre de Aledo House is located, better known as the Casona de Carolina Codorniú , one of the few traditional Murcian manor houses that remain in the municipality. Thanks to this action, the City Council facilitates the rehabilitation and recovery of this property, classified as an asset of the cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia with the category of asset cataloged due to its cultural relevance.

The building will house a nursing home that will cover 6,400 square meters. Residence for 150 users The work to be carried out will involve an investment of 4 million euros.

The licensing process is already underway.

The new residence will have the capacity to house 150 users, who will receive services such as physiotherapy, nursing and day care.

Likewise, the Shield of the Marqués de Aledo, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, will be restored. The Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, led by the mayor Antonio Navarro, has expanded the use of this space, from tertiary to healthcare, at the same time that it has reported favorably on the viability of the project, which must preserve the volume and composition of holes on all its facades, not altering the original materials and colors and respecting its surrounding green surroundings. Total area of ??12,000 square meters The total area of ??land on which the actions planned for the development of the project will be carried out amounts to 12,000 square meters. The property, which is located in the La Ladera urbanization, in Churra, and which was originally owned by the Marquesado de Aledo, has not been used since its owner died in 1985. Later, the house was acquired by Juan Antonio Pérez Urruti and Carolina Codorníu Bosch (1891-1985), daughter of the forestry engineer who repopulated Sierra Espuña, Ricardo Codorníu y Stárico (1846-1923), and mother of the inventor Juan de la Cierva.
