[Podemos asks for the resignation of the Councilor for Health, Felipe Coello, for skipping the vaccination protocol (21/01/2021)

The purple formation considers that the mayor of the Popular Party "is assuming functions that do not correspond to him" and points out that "it is not justifiable to skip the order established for vaccination, when there are still municipal workers in positions of risk waiting to be vaccinated " Podemos has demanded this afternoon the resignation of Murcia's Councilor for Health, Felipe Coello, after learning that his case joins the one already known as the "vaccine scandal".

The spokesman for Podemos in Murcia, Luigi Carinci, has considered that, as the person in charge of health, the councilor must guarantee the protection of workers in essential services before thinking about making merits, an "attitude that demonstrates arbitrariness with which a matter as serious as the mass vaccination process is being carried out ".

Carinci has highlighted in a statement sent to Murcia .com that "the established protocols make it very clear when the vaccine must be administered to each population group", and has pointed out that "politicians they are not a separate group,They do not have priority and it is obvious that now it is not their responsibility to receive the dose.

" For his part, the spokesman for Podemos in the City Council, Gins Ruiz Maci, has added that "there cannot be a double yardstick", and has reiterated that all those public officials who have been vaccinated skipping protocol "he must resign his position, whatever party it is." The councilor has insisted that public officials "have the duty to be exemplary and receive the same treatment as the rest of the citizenry", for which "there are no reasons to explain any of the circumstances that are claiming to have received the vaccine prematurely.

" Podemos, thus questions the motives of Felipe Coello, understanding that his position and his performance is that of Health Councilor, "and as such he must be managing the pandemic, not administering vaccines, something for which there must be specialized personnel ".

Since the purple formation they have also pointed out that "there are still municipal workers, or outsourced services, who fight on the front line against the pandemic and continue to wait for their turn to come", so " the councilman's vaccination is even more unjustifiable, if possible ". Finally, Carinci has demanded that all the information be given on which politicians have agreed to the vaccine and has demanded that Mayor Ballesta clarify if there are more members of his government team than may have been vaccinated.
