[The City Council reviews in detail the eucalyptus trees of more than 20 meters in the La Seda garden, guaranteeing the safety of the neighbors (21/01/2021)

"We are thoroughly inspecting these specimens so that there are no dry branches, bark, pests, or any health problem in the specimen that could pose a danger to the neighbors.

The more than 600 unique trees in the municipality are a benchmark for Murcian people and also contribute to improving the environment and the quality of the air we breathe "has highlighted Jos Guilln The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by Jos Guilln, is carrying out the revision of the eucalyptus trees of Mï ¿½s of 20 meters located in the La Seda garden. These inspections are carried out every six months to verify that the specimens are in perfect condition, guaranteeing the safety of the residents who pass through this area every day. For this reason, from the Park and Garden Service, numerous reviews are carried out both visually and in depth.

The latter is the case of what is being done, these days, in the eucalyptus trees in the La Seda garden. "We are thoroughly inspecting these specimens so that there are no dry branches, bark, pests, or any health problem in the specimen that could pose a danger to the neighbors.

The more than 600 unique trees in the municipality are a benchmark for Murcian people and also contribute to improving the environment and the quality of the air we breathe ", stressed Jos Guilln. These works are being carried out by technicians and climbing experts.

For the supervision of this large specimen of more than 25 meters and 450 cm in perimeter, both a lifting platform and the climbing system are used, thus reviewing in depth those branches that are not accessed or they are clearly seen using mechanical means. These revisions, two a year, are added to those carried out after an alert (orange or red) due to rain or wind, thus guaranteeing the safety of Murcians and the specimens themselves. The revision of these eucalyptus from La Seda is added to the surveys carried out in the more than 600 unique specimens that exist in the municipality of Murcia, on which different actions of safety or reduction pruning are carried out.

Of branches if necessary, preparing a report with such actions. Eucalyptus trees are considered to be one of the longest-lived and large specimens in the municipality of Murcia, serving, in addition, as a significant and majestic element for the green areas of the municipality of Murcia. Murcia City Council treats 250 large eucalyptus trees with an innovative method to prevent branches from falling and guaranteeing safety The Murcia City Council, through the Council of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, also carries out the application of endotherapy in the municipality. This non-invasive system allows to inject a substance into the trees that absorb even the sap and that acts against pests, specifically the processionary and larvae, without causing any damage to the specimen. A technique that is complemented by the placement of small plugs in the holes made in the tree so that it is fully protected. The application of this technique has a proven efficacy superior to that applied by means of the spray system of the specimens, since the durability of the product within the tree is estimated to be about 2 years. In order to carry out these tasks, we have all the elements and safety equipment necessary for the correct handling of this type of substances.

In addition, the professionals of the Park and Garden Service have been trained in endotherapy.
