[IBAFF XII will be held from June 18 to 26, 2021 (19/01/2021)

| The Murcia International Film Festival will have an edition adapted to the times | The Murcia International Film Festival changes its date.

The IBAFF will not be held in March as has been customary, but will have its next edition in June.

A month in which Murcia will once again be the protagonist, active agent and scene of the various dimensions of audiovisual language.

Thus, from June 18 to 26, the festival inspired by the figure of Ibn Arabi will return to the Regional Film Library to offer the Murcian public its program.

An offer made up of films that, due to their hybrid nature in gender, have difficult access to conventional commercial circuits and give the viewer an experience that goes beyond entertainment.

In addition, this year the IBAFF, a benchmark for creation and artistic freedom, will also have the facilities of the Artillery Barracks as a parallel venue.

Something that will allow the festival to take a new step to bring culture to the streets.

Taking advantage of the change in dates, the organization of the Murcia International Film Festival is working with the illusion of carrying out a face-to-face edition.

The team is already underway to offer its best version, wishing to meet again with the public in theaters, although without losing sight of the reality imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, in addition to complying with the security protocols in projections and events, different formulas will also be considered that guarantee a programming accessible online if the moment so requires it.

health situation.

As in previous years, in addition to viewing the films of the official sections in competition, the different film cycles and collaborations with other festivals, IBAFF XII will offer free workshops and training activities.

Likewise, it will continue to be a meeting point for the public and professionals and will offer talks and seminars where the sector and contemporary audiovisual speeches will be analyzed.

Through its different sections with the support of the Murcia City Council from the Department of Culture, the IBAFF seeks to reflect the contradictions and paradoxes of contemporary film practice, constituting an annual event that is a forum debate from which to feed the cinema with the energy of its avant-garde.

The call for films for the twelfth edition will be published shortly and will be informed about it promptly through the festival's social networks.

For the moment, the pre-registration of works has already been enabled through an online form on the official website.

The last edition received almost 400 films, 66% of short films and 34% of feature films, from 41 different countries.

The Official Feature Section offered 18 titles, documentaries and fictions, which transgressed the academic codes of genre and articulated a large number of themes with milestones such as projecting Rithy Panh's Irradis which had its second world screening in Murcia after its premiere at the Berlinale.

Regarding the selected short films, two joint programs were established with a total of 14 films offering various national and European premieres among the selected films.
