[We can bring the closing of the betting houses to the Plenary (19/01/2021)

The Municipal Group Podemos considers that these premises should be included among the establishments on which the closure has been decreed due to extreme risk of transmission of Covid-19.

For the purple formation, in addition to the health risk that the existence of these premises supposes, "it is a comparative offense with the hospitality that suffers a third total closure of the sector".

Gins Ruiz Maci will take this month to the January ordinary plenary session a motion in which he asks the corporation to increase vigilance and take extreme control measures in the gambling rooms of the municipality and urge the Autonomous Community to modify the necessary orders to "include the activity of the gaming and betting rooms, among which it must close in municipalities with a very high and extreme alert level".

For the spokesperson of the Municipal Group Podemos in the Murcia City Council, these premises "cannot remain open for one more day." Ruiz Maci alleges, beyond the social problems that the existence of these premises entails, that these are establishments "which, due to their physical configuration, without windows, lack ventilation adequate and stillthey maintain their activity, applying only restrictions on the capacity that, on the other hand, are difficult to verify, given the same physical configuration ".

In this sense, the group's spokesman recalls that the hospitality industry "has been forced to close completely for the third time since the pandemic was decreed", therefore, it considers "a comparative offense that bars and restaurants are imposed such extreme measures for health reasons and betting houses are acting in such a lax way ".

Gins Ruiz Maci will therefore defend that these premises be closed and subjected to the necessary restrictions to stop the transmission of the virus.

"It does not seem risky to say that in a situation of extreme alert it is difficult to justify assuming the risk of transmission involved in maintaining the activity of closed, poorly ventilated premises, in which different people continuously interact with them.

appliances ".

Ruiz Maci recalled that the closure of the entire hostelry, as well as all theaters, cultural centers, etc, "turns the betting shops into the only 'leisure' places open at this time , which represents a real risk both for young people who are involved in the danger of gambling and for the transmission of the coronavirus, which these days is at record figures both in the Region ½n of Murcia as, specifically, in the municipality ".
