[The Three Cultures come together again in the Murcia of the XXI century through video games, illustration and silk (13/01/2021)

A 'quiz' with El Rey Lobo, Ibn Arabi and Alfonso X El Sabio as protagonists, the historical role of silk embodied in an exhibition and an illustrated deck in Medieval Murcia are the latest projects developed within the program ' Cultural Reagents'. The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jes s Pacheco, presented this morning in the Exhibition Hall of La Glorieta the last three Cultural Reactives selected within the line 'Medieval Murcia and Three Cultural': a deck of cards, a video game mode application that reveals the historical characters of Murcia and an exhibition with silk as the link between the Three Cultures, which is being developed with a profound process research on this material. "An illustrated deck in Medieval Murcia, the historic silk paper embodied in an exhibition and a video game with El Rey Lobo, Ibn Arabi and Alfonso X El Sabio as protagonists, are the latest projects developed within the program ' Reactivos Culturales', the municipal plan that fosters artistic and creative production, launched by the City Council to respond to the difficulties our artists are facing due to the health crisis, "said Jes s Pacheco during the event. The illustrator and comic designer Salva Esp n, the designer Carmen L pez Br o, the illustrator and graphic designer Diego Liz n and the actor, writer and playwright Fran Bermejo are the authors of the initiatives -la project information. The Wolf King, Ibn Arabi and Alfonso X the Wise, protagonists of the 'quiz' of Medieval Murcia One of the selected projects is the application developed as a video game by Salva Esp n, under the name 'Quiz.

Medieval Murcia ', with questions focused on that time. This interactive application, which is free and available on Google Play, proposes an entertaining video game focused on the three most important figures in the Medieval history of Murcia: El Rey Lobo, Ibn Arabi and Alfonso X El Sabio, with questions that approach historical knowledge in a simple and fun way, intended for all audiences for educational purposes. Illustrated letters with historical characters from Medieval Murcia The creation of a deck with illustrated cards on Medieval Murcia is another of the selected initiatives.

The authors are Diego Liz n, illustrator and graphic designer -has made the illustrations-, and Fran Bermejo, actor, writer and playwright -in charge of the texts-. The deck, available on the website of the City Museum, is made up of 40 cards, like a traditional Spanish deck.

Specifically, it is illustrated with historical characters -the figures- and heritage -the sticks- from the Middle Ages of the city of Murcia.

With it you can discover kings, queens, poets, lawyers ... This project will also include an explanatory guide on everything that appears on the cards, placing the heritage and the figures that the deck contains in a landmark in the city of Murcia, be it a museum, a monument, a street or any other place. 'Manqud' and the role of silk in Murcia throughout history The third initiative presented this morning is 'Manqud', by designer Carmen L pez Br o, developed from a deep research project that has focused on silk as a representative material of the culture and traditions of Murcia throughout history.

Through this fabric, the relationship and exchange of knowledge that existed between the Three Cultures that were part of Murcia in the Middle Ages is explored. This research has two aspects that have been developed in a parallel but joint way: in the theoretical section the history of silk and the way in which the Three cultures influenced its development is studied; while the practical section deals with the design and production of silk textile elements that explore ancient techniques transferred to contemporary uses. The end result is a collection of textile pieces, showing the different colors that can be achieved using natural raw materials with ancient techniques.

In this way, using silk as a link between the Three Cultures, it is intended to enhance the importance of coexistence and collaboration that existed between them and that can be recovered in the present, highlighting the role of silk in Murcia throughout history.

The exhibition resulting from this research process will be presented in March at the Museum of the City. 'Where myrtles grow' It should be remembered that the selected projects are joined by 'Where the myrtles grow', another initiative of the line 'Medieval Murcia and Three Cultures' of the Cultural Reactives program, which currently houses the City Museum, in the Exhibition Hall Temporary It is a dynamic project by Vincent S ez and Pascual Mart nez, an expedition to the gardens of the city of Murcia to investigate and document those places where the different types of plants live, are born and are identified that make up these spaces. Vicente S ez and Pascual Mart nez are two photographers based in Murcia who combine their work as photographers with specialized training, advice on projects and the design of photographic exhibitions.

Taking the garden as a point of reference in common between these three cultures, the artists propose a multidisciplinary visual lexicon based on photography, to reflect on their creation and the relationship that they currently maintain.

with these spaces from different perspectives. Example of good practice in Europe The 'Cultural Reactives' program has been recognized in the European sphere as an example of good practices ", recalled Jes s Pacheco, who added that" the European Commission has chosen Murcia to lead the route of culture in Europe until the horizon 2030 ". As a whole, the `` Cultural Reactives '' program will involve an investment of more than 700,000 euros for the cultural sector, promoting the immediate hiring of the selected cultural initiatives.
