[The Cultural Reactive 'El illusionista' seeks to bring the Murcian folklore tradition closer to new styles (30/12/2020)

| This project, from the musical duo Maestro Espada has been one of those selected from the Line 'Tradition and popular culture '| Murcia launches a new Cultural Reactive.

This morning, the Párraga center hosted the presentation of 'El ilusionista' by the musical duo Maestro Espada, made up of the brothers Alejandro and Víctor Miguel Hernández Martínez, who seek to bring the Murcian folk tradition closer to new styles such as electronic music and Anglo-Saxon folk. In this EP of two songs and two live videos, the brothers Alejandro (Alex Juarez) and Víctor (Rey Lobo) open a stylistic path where synthesizers with castanets and Murcian guitars coexist. After several years living in Barcelona, ??they returned to Murcia where they became interested in the Murcian musical tradition, being surprised both by its quality and by the little influence it has on contemporary music. "Now, thanks to this project that has been selected by the program Reactivos Culturales en la Línea 'Tradition and popular culture' we bring our traditional music to other audiences and new audiences," said the Councilor for Culture and Recovery of Heritage, Jesús Pacheco . The two songs of the EP can be heard on all virtual platforms (Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Youtube).

The first one 'Murciana' reinterprets a popular song, instrumented with elements far removed from traditional folklore such as Moog synthesizer, double voices or percussion samples.

The second 'El ilusionista' is an original composition where Maestro Espada explores a topographic lyric with double voices, tambourine, Spanish guitar and electric guitar. The 'Cultural Reactives' program represents an investment of more than 700,000 euros for the cultural sector, promoting the immediate recruitment of selected cultural initiatives. A total of 796 projects have been presented to the 9 lines that make up the 'Cultural Reactives' program, of which 126 have been selected and are currently materializing. In the words of Jesús Pacheco, "we are advancing in this ambitious project that seeks to support the cultural sector of the municipality, promoting artistic and creative production, after the paralysis of the sector due to the crisis caused by COVID-19". Likewise, "what we intend with 'Reactivos Culturales' is" to facilitate the development of our artists and creatives in the different phases of their professional career, in order to support the development of a solid and comprehensive local cultural sector, especially at this time so complicated for them ", highlighted the mayor.
