[The City Council has assisted 31 homeless people this year within the framework of the Cold Operation (20/12/2020)

| This week SEMAS has assisted 18 people of Spanish, Romanian, Moroccan, Ecuadorian and Mali nationality | The Murcia City Council, through the Mobile Emergency Service and Social Care (SEMAS), dependent on the Department of Social Rights and Family, which is directed by the mayor Pilar Torres, has assisted 31 homeless people this year within the framework of Operation Cold, a special service that the Murcian Consistory provides when temperatures in the municipality drop below 6 degrees and that has been active for three weeks.

Since the launch of this device, a total of 26 men and 5 women have received care. Those treated this week were 14 men and four women.

Of them, seven are Spanish, another seven Romanians, two Moroccans, one Ecuadorian and one bad.

The SEMAS technicians distributed food, hot drinks, blankets and sleeping bags.

The areas that were visited were the Barrio del Carmen, Infante Juan Manuel, San Juan, San Miguel, Vistabella, San Andr s and Vistalegre, in addition to the Glorieta de España. The councilor for Social Rights, Pilar Torres, explained that "this service is developed by establishing personal contact, studying the particular situation of each person and generating a link that facilitates the process of intervention and social inclusion of these people who live in a situation of exclusion.

" Information, attention and support service The components of this special device are on permanent alert, but when the temperature drops below 6 degrees the output becomes more exhaustive, providing a service of information, attention, accompaniment and delivery of hot drinks, food, sleeping bags or blankets to care for homeless people who are in extreme situations, trying to promote their social integration. SEMAS runs through the streets, gardens, ATMs and garden areas of the municipality, providing help to people who sleep on the street and in need. Accommodation management Depending on the specific circumstances of each person, different resources are also offered, such as transfer to the center of the Patronato Jes s Abandonado Foundation or the RAIS Foundation, other accommodations, or centers hospitals, if necessary, in addition to monitoring. The Mobile Emergency and Social Care Service, made up of social workers from the City Council and agents of the Local Police, depends on the Department of Social and Family Rights, led by Pilar Torres.
