[Huermur supports the BIC protection of the Roman sculptures of Osuna found in Murcia (18/12/2020)

Huermur has appeared in the protection file that the Ministry of Culture is instructing at the request of the Ministry of Culture, for the sculptural ensemble of Roman times from Osuna (Seville), found in a collection n particular in Murcia in 2016, presenting allegations supporting its declaration as a BIC Cultural Interest Site. The conservationist entity, and in the same sense as the technical reports of the Ministry, points out the exceptional value for the Spanish historical heritage of these pieces of white marble sculptures dated between the end of the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD One of them belongs to the 3rd / 2nd century BC and is made of calcarenite stone. The Association for the Conservation of the Huerta and the Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) has appeared in the file currently being processed by the Ministry of Culture, at the request of the Ministry of Culture, to protect Inter s Cultural BIC a collection of parts of sculptures from the Roman period, which were rediscovered in a collection in Murcia in 2016.

It is specifically a set of pieces of white marble sculptures dated between the end of the century I BC and the 1st century AD, with the exception of one of them that belongs to the III / II century BC and is made of calcarenite stone.

The lot was declared unbearable through a Ministerial Order in 2019 following a report from the Board of Qualification, Appraisal and Export of Spanish Historical Heritage Assets. These pieces remained unaccounted for since 1903, when residents of Osuna (Seville) found them during excavations in a well near the Roman theater.

The description of the discoveries collected in the local press of the time and some references published by the archaeologists Arthur Engel and Pierre Paris, together with the photographs of the British G.

Bonsor, served to elaborate a study which was made public at a national congress on Roman sculpture in Hispania, held in Murcia in 2005. In this sense, Huermur has presented allegations supporting its BIC declaration, as the best way to protect and preserve this cultural legacy, and considering that this exceptional marble sculptural ensemble presents a special interest for the Spanish Historical Heritage .

All this in the same sense as the technical reports of the Ministry of Culture.
