[The City Council is awarded the first prize for Open Government in the Region for the Urban DNA initiative (18/12/2020)

The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has received the award from the First Edition of the Open Government, Good Government and Administrative Modernization Awards of the Region of Murcia, organized by the Ministry of Transparency, Participation and Public Administration The Murcia City Council has been awarded the first prize in the Open Government modality of the Murcia Region for the project 'ADN Urbano', for activating urban centers, in the First Edition of the Open Government, Good Government and Administrative Modernization Awards of the Murcia Region, organized by the Ministry of Transparency, Participation and Public Administration. The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernab , has attended the ceremony to present trophies and diplomas that took place this morning in the Patio of the Monastery of Santa Clara de la Real de Murcia, on Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio , along with the rest of the award-winning administrations and organizations. In the case of Murcia, the award recognizes a new model of neighborhood intervention that contains demonstrations that promote an identity difference of each of them, that favors social cohesion and that encourages and promotes a new form of activation n economical. “This project and the methodology of the participatory process followed in it, is a clear example of tangible manifestation of how an express mandate from Murcian society has been translated into practice, intervention in the city's neighborhoods ”, Mercedes Bernab has highlighted. Then, the mayor explained that "the participatory process has meant working together with all the services of the City Council involved in the interventions in each of the neighborhoods, as well as with different levels of the administration, national and European, with citizens, with the University and with other entities.

All this by applying a series of principles based on cooperation, openness, transparency and coherence of the actions carried out, which are essential conditions to guarantee the success of public policies in the interest of citizens ” . A methodology recognized at European level ADN Urbano is an initiative of the Murcia City Council for the renovation and social activation of the city's neighborhoods, a common point where public resources can be brought closer to serving the real needs of residents and merchants . This model of intervention began in the Santa Eulalia neighborhood and shortly afterwards it has been transferred to other enclaves of the city, such as El Carmen or La Paz.

The ADN Urbano project has been recognized at a European level, where it has been highlighted by the Urbelac III and Urbact-Interactive cities networks and obtained the Urbact Good Practices Label. “This award represents a recognition of the participatory processes designed in the Murcia City Council.

The Urban DNA has served as the seed to generate another important process in which we are currently immersed, such as the South Connection.

All this also in line with the design of our Urban Agenda Murcia 2030, of which we are a pilot experience at the national level, ”explained Mercedes Bernab . All winners In the 'Open Government' modality, the Murcia City Council, the Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility of the University of Murcia together with the Higher Court of Justice of the Region, the Murcian Research Institute and Agrarian and Food Development (Imida), to the Molina de Segura City Council and the Miguel de Cervantes IES. On the other hand, in the 'Administrative Modernization' modality, the awards go to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Murcian Health Service, the Tax Agency of the Region, the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar and the Ministry of Health.

Finally, the 'Good Government' modality has been for the University of Murcia.
