The Municipal Archive has an important photographic collection in which the legacy of Juan López stands out, with his collection of images that is a graphic-documentary testimony necessary to know Murcia from the period between 1939 and 1985 in which López developed his work as a photojournalist. This huge archive, made up of more than 200,000 negatives, including rolls, celluloid and glass plates of various sizes, has been digitized over the last few years. The calendar shows 16 photographs, from between the 50s and 60s, which collect various snapshots of the orchard, the city and its surroundings as Holidaymakers before boarding the bus heading to the beaches (1964), Remodeling of Avenida Teniente Flomesta (1963), Children playing in a lane in the garden (1950s), or the Bando de la Huerta Parade as it passes through Santo Domingo (1960s) In total, 1,500 desktop calendars and 1,000 wall calendars have been printed, which can be picked up for free at the Archive's premises as of Thursday, December 17. The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, explained that "with actions like this one, the Municipal Archive, in charge of the city's documentary memory, opens up to Murcians, becoming a meeting point, a place to discover , to live experiences, to satisfy our curiosity or to know our history and reflect on our heritage ". In the 53 years of his profession, Juan López covered one of the brightest stages of Murcian graphic journalism through the regional newspapers of that time: La Verdad, Línea, Hoja del Monday, and various national publications as a correspondent in Murcia, the EFE Agency, ABC, El Ruedo, Marca ... Owner, until his retirement, of one of the first and most renowned photographic establishments in the city, located in the central Trapería, he collaborated in numerous publications, among which 'Murcia, towns and landscapes' stands out, under the direction of Juan Torres Fontes and with texts by Antonio Hoyos.

Throughout his life he maintained a close friendship with Murcian artists, such as Pedro Flores, Mariano Ballester, Andrés Conejo, or González Conte.

Winner of countless awards, Juan López found his way of making art in photography.
