n, protecting the neighbors, and especially the little ones, from the inclement weather | The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, has visited the Progreso neighborhood to check on the spot the works of the Shadow Plan in the districts of the South Connection area. The objective is to improve infrastructures and create shaded spaces that make them more comfortable, protecting the little ones from the inclement sun, in neighborhoods and districts, thus facilitating family reunions, citizen participation and socio-cultural meetings, in addition to increasing the number of effective hours of use by Murcian families. In this case, a new shading system has been installed in the garden of La Rana in the Progreso neighborhood with micro-perforated structures, which allow the temperature of the children's play area to be lowered by several degrees and increase the number of hours it can be used by the families. Specifically, a new canopy has been installed in the children's area, to protect the little ones and adapt the area to any inclement weather, and another canopy in a new bio-healthy area that allows outdoor sports at any time of the day. "With the Shadow Plan we intend to install more than 150 new canopies and shading systems in the municipality, 80% of them are being located in districts so that families can enjoy these new spaces at any time of the year" reported José Guillén . It should be remembered that from the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration an intense work is being carried out to cover and provide shade spaces that are widely used by Murcians, such as children's areas in parks and gardens. The last tents that are being executed are located in El Palmar, on calle pintor Velázquez and another in Cabezo de Torres, on calle Reina Fabiola de Belgium. The Progreso neighborhood framed in the South Connection project The South Connection project will mean the return to Murcians of an urban area of ??more than 200,000 m2, where green spaces and pedestrian areas will be the main protagonists. In the design of the actions to be carried out, the more than 70,000 residents who live in the 9 districts and neighborhoods where these actions will take place will have a voice, such as: Los Dolores, El Infante, the Carmen neighborhood, Santiago el Mayor, the Progreso neighborhood, San Pío X, Nonduermas, Patiño and Barriomar. Currently, the participatory process of the project is taking place.

Municipal technicians are holding working meetings with more than 150 representative groups from the southern part of the municipality with the aim of gathering ideas and proposals that will later be evaluated by the competent technicians. At the same time, the placement of more than 300 ballot boxes by businesses and establishments in the southern districts and neighborhoods is allowing weekly contributions to be collected directly from citizens by filling in forms.
