MercaMurcia launches a solidarity campaign to collect food among its workers and companies (14/12/2020)

| The initiative will remain active until next Friday, December 18, and all donated products will be delivered to the Segura Food Bank for distribution among vulnerable families | Mercamurcia has started today a great solidarity campaign to collect food in which it intends to involve all its workers and the companies that work in the Mercamurcia Food Logistics Distribution Center.

Under the motto 'Solidarity Christmas, every kilo counts', the initiative was presented this morning at the Mercamurcia facilities.The campaign will remain active until Friday, December 18, and all donated products will be delivered to the Segura Food Bank for distribution among vulnerable families served by this social entity.Between now and Friday, those interested can donate non-perishable products, while for the delivery of perishable products they have been reserved exclusively on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 to favor the conservation of donated food.The councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, and the director of Mercamurcia, Ricardo Rubio, presented the initiative this morning, in which Mercasa is also collaborating outside of Mercamurcia and the City Council.The mayor Torres has thanked "the numerous solidarity samples that individuals and entities are having to help those most in need.

The attention of vulnerable groups is a priority for the Government Team.

The selfless work of citizens and companies helps to our services multiply.

They have us at their disposal ".Three points to make donationsAt the Mercamurcia facilities, three points have been set up to deposit donated food.

One is active in pavilion A of the Fruit and Vegetable Market and another in pavilion B of the same place.

In addition, a third party has been enabled in the administration building.Mercamurcia has maintained a proactive and supportive stance since the beginning of the socio-health crisis generated by the expansion of the coronavirus.

Proof of this is the donation of more than 16 tons of fruits, vegetables, meat and non-precedent products that it has made to six Murcian charities for distribution to the families most affected by the crisis caused by Covid.On the other hand, this 2020 the commercialization of fruits and vegetables has grown by 15% in Mercamurcia.

Despite the health crisis, the occupation in the Food Logistics Distribution Center is above 96%.
