[The Local Police will have three new hybrid vehicles to increase the levels of security and immediate attention in the municipality (11/12/2020)

| The acquisition of these vehicles will facilitate the work of the agents and will contribute to improving air quality | The Governing Board has approved the award of the supply of three hybrid off-road vehicles destined for the Local Police, with an investment of 132,980 euros. One of the priorities of the Government Team is to reinforce the resources, both human and material, that the Local Police has since Murcia is one of the largest and most decentralized municipalities in Spain and the acquisition of these Vehicles will make it easier for the police to serve the entire territory more effectively. In this way, the acquisition of these vehicles, in addition to facilitating the work of the agents, allows increasing the levels of security and immediate attention throughout the municipality. The Department of Citizen Security and Economic Management works to incorporate sustainable vehicles to the Local Police fleet in order to reduce emissions, in line with the municipal Clean Air strategy, which is committed to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the improvement of air quality, creating a more sustainable city. Thus, the acquisition of two hybrid patrol vehicles and two electric motorcycles is already in tender. Renewal of the police fleet It should be remembered that the Governing Board on May 22 gave approval to the specifications for contracting the supply of nine vehicles for the Local Police, while on April 29 it was approved the acquisition of the first two electric motorcycles of the Local Police for the Ecological Patrol. In addition, last March 13 new mobile units were presented for the agents: 8 motorcycles, 4 vans and a truck, which were added to the existing ones, reaching 282 units. In 2016, 2 SUVs, 13 passenger cars, a car with mobile radar for speed controls and 5 motorcycles were added to the fleet.

In 2017, 7 SUVs were added to increase the police presence in the countryside and mountain areas of the villages.

Last fall, the Murcia Local Police included two drones in its equipment to monitor areas of difficult access, devices that can reach up to 72 km / h and ascend to a height of 6,000 meters.
