[42 taxi drivers will receive 160,000 euros to finance the increase in the cost of their vehicles adapted to people with reduced mobility (11/12/2020)

| The City Council seeks to implement increasingly accessible public transport services | The Governing Board has approved the subsidy to taxi drivers with adapted vehicles with the aim of improving the accessibility of public transport in the municipality and offering people with reduced mobility a service adapted to their needs Thus, aid amounting to 160,699.69 euros has been approved for a total of 42 taxi drivers with adapted vehicles to finance increases in operating costs, such as fuel consumption, cost of repairs to ramps, safety harness and change of wheels , as well as mandatory passenger insurance and repair services. It should be remembered that the Governing Board on November 29 gave the go-ahead to the grant call for the acquisition or transformation of adapted taxis for people with reduced mobility, authorizing an expense of 30,000 euros. The granting of this aid seeks to co-finance the higher costs that the acquisition or transformation of this type of vehicle entails in relation to conventional taxis. In this way, the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth intends to implement increasingly accessible public transport services, since in this way the autonomy of people with reduced mobility is increased and allows a more efficient and useful transport, at the same time that guarantees universality, accessibility and quality in the provision of this service.
