[The concept of identity, culture as an engine for growth and mobility plans are the focus of the proposals of the second day of the Neighborhood Forum within Conexi n Sur (10/12/2020)

Like last week, it was divided into two blocks: the first one to reflect in a general way on the changes that the southern neighborhoods are going to experience with this project; and a more specific one on education, culture, the elderly, tradition and mobility.

The public also had the opportunity to participate during a question time. The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernab , responsible for the participatory process of Conexi n Sur, inaugurated the forum and accompanied the speakers during the event.

"We are facing this great opportunity to recover the city for the citizen, where the neighbors are the real protagonists of this process of integral recovery, which will also mean an opportunity for social cohesion and structuring Township.

Antonio Hern ndez Gim nez, from the Los Dolores Senior Center, intervened as a representative of the elderly in the southern area, demanding spaces for hatred and enjoyment, pleasant environments for the practice of the activity sports, walks, rest areas and spaces for outdoor play. Another of the concepts discussed in yesterday's session was the feeling of belonging and the need to generate bonds for it.

Enrique Barranco and Kelly Suniaga, from the Wyrdamur Cultural Association, spoke about their professional career as an organization dedicated to entertainment that defends the inclusion of Murcian culture in each of its artistic manifestations.

For this reason, they defended that Conexi n Sur would act as the backbone to unite that sense of being Murcian, through new infrastructures and that it contribute to interpersonal communication. Finally, Nacho Tom s, from the communication agency N7, focused his presentation on the need for long-term mobility plans, which connect the different areas of the city, thus allowing movement in bicycle, on foot or by public transport.

To this end, he stressed the importance of accessibility, with sidewalks adapted to all people, or the extension of the tram to the south.

All this to work for a city without pollution that encourages citizens to take less cars, which helps social cohesion and local commerce. In addition to the speakers, the public also had the opportunity to intervene in the forum, where they highlighted aspects such as the need for parking in the southern area, investing in security in parks and gardens, conservation from the railway museum and a good connection with the city center. Sports and cultural spaces, conclusions of the first day The contributions of the first day of the Neighborhood Forum, which was held last Thursday at the Artillería Barracks, focused on the need for good communication between neighborhoods that favors mobility, improvements in accessibility with more pedestrian streets, green spaces and new infrastructures for culture, such as libraries or cultural centers, sports, with pavilions or football fields, and the development of infrastructures and actions that promote social and commercial activity. Specifically, commerce, culture, tradition, women, sports and integration were the themes of the hand of neighborhood representatives from El Infante, San P o X, Barrio del Progreso, Nonduermas and Barriomar. Contributions to the participatory process The participatory process framed within the strategic project of South Connection has received more than 600 contributions from more than a hundred groups and organizations in a month, whose proposals will be evaluated by a committee.
