[The Museum of Blood shows The Altarpiece of the Mystic Lamb by José Mar a Garres (10/12/2020)

| This project, which can be visited until January 31, is part of the Cultural Reactives program | The Councilor for Culture and Recovery of Heritage, Jes s Pacheco, presented this morning the new Cultural Reagent 'The altarpiece of the Mystic Lamb', by Jos Mar a Garres.

The event was also attended by Carlos Varcarcel, president of the Cristo de la Sangre Brotherhood, and Pedro Alberto Cruz, curator of the exhibition. This new project, selected within the Cultural Reagents program of the Murcia City Council, will be open until January 31 at the Cristo de la Sangre Museum Exhibition Hall. 'The altarpiece of the Mystic Lamb' constitutes a decisive link in the investigations that Jos Mar a Garres has been developing for years on the history of religion in its double dimension of cultural fact and experience Intimate and personal. This installation, a hybrid between painting and sculpture with which Garres approaches the mystical in a cultural way, is accompanied by a video made by Dami n Lajara with the explanation and development of the work. Jos Mar a Garres, born in 1949 in Molina de Segura, has a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia and throughout his career he has carried out sculpture work on cardboard supports and molds for Cardboard Stone, sculpture in Ceramic Kilns, engravings and painting.

He has starred in more than 40 individual exhibitions and as many collective exhibitions with the different artistic groups he has been with. This project is part of the 'Cultural Reactives' program, which involves an investment of more than 700,000 euros for the cultural sector, promoting the immediate hiring of selected cultural initiatives. A total of 796 projects have been presented to the 9 lines that make up the 'Cultural Reactives' program, of which 126 have been selected and are currently materializing. In the words of Jes s Pacheco, "we are advancing in this ambitious project that seeks to support the cultural sector of the municipality, promoting artistic and creative production, after the paralysis of the sector due to the crisis caused by COVID -19 ". Also, "what we intend with 'Reactivos Culturales' is to facilitate the development of our artists and creatives in the different phases of their professional career, in order to support the development of a solid and comprehensive local cultural sector, especially in these such complicated moments for them ", highlighted the mayor.
