The City Council pruned 15,000 orange trees, Murcia's heritage (09/12/2020)

| This action is part of the organized calendar of the Murcian Consistory that will cause close to 15,000 orange trees to be pruned throughout the municipality of Murcia, and of which it is expected to collect about 500,000 kilos of oranges | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, has begun pruning hundreds of orange trees in the historic gardens of Murcia.

This morning, the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén visited the Plaza de los Apóstoles, where these works are being carried out.These works are framed within the organized calendar of the Murcian Consistory that will mean that, in the coming months, it will be to prune about 15,000 orange trees distributed throughout the municipality of Murcia, and of which it is expected to collect more than 500,000 kilos of oranges."Our objective is to improve the image of the city, our environment and guarantee the safety of the neighbors, both in the garden areas of the municipality and in the different streets and squares where these orange trees are located.

These trees are a hallmark of the city of Murcia, and they offer a characteristic smell of orange blossom in spring that surround the streets ", José Guillén highlighted.These actions are intensifying in the historic gardens of Santa Isabel, Floridablanca, Salitre, Jardín Chino, the Plaza de la Cruz Roja and the San Antonio garden, located in the Santa Eulalia neighborhood, although the pruning and collection of oranges is extended by the entire municipality.Eight teams, made up of 64 people from the STV-Actúa concessionaire, are working intensively for several weeks so that all the orange trees in the historic gardens look their best.
