The City Council discovers the Fortresses of the Wolf King through a program of activities for this bridge (05/12/2020)

| The Council of Pedanías and Neighborhoods, in collaboration with the Municipal Board of Monteagudo, have developed a program of activities to carry out during the bridge of the Constitution under the motto: "Discovering the Strengths of the Wolf King" | The Council of Pedanías and Barrios, directed by Marco Antonio Ferández, in collaboration with the Monteagudo Municipal Board, has developed a program of activities to carry out during the Constitution bridge under the motto: "Discovering the Strengths of King Wolf.This program is framed within the Las Fortalezas del Rey Lobo project, and aims to discover the heritage wealth of the Monteagudo and Cabezo de Torres archaeological park through direct interaction in the environment, educational routes, sports activities and recreation workshops.All activities are free, with small groups, being necessary to request registration to participate.

As the health situation improves, new activities will be proposed, thus displaying all the possibilities offered by this great open-air museum.To participate in the activities, the use of a mask will be mandatory and they must bring a duly completed declaration of responsibility that will be provided by email once the place is confirmed.Settlement of civilizationsDeclared a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of Historic Site, the surroundings of Monteagudo and Cabezo de Torres have been the settlement place of numerous civilizations since prehistoric times.

It was one of the most influential sites in the entire Spanish Levant for centuries, the residence of Alfonso X the Wise and Ibn Mardanís, King Wolf.The 'Las Fortalezas del Rey Lobo' project will create a unique natural and archaeological itinerary in Spain with 20 kilometers of paths and pedestrian and cycle paths and more than 100,000 trees and native vegetation of the Huerta de Murcia.

It will be a place for culture, sports and family leisure, which will allow you to visit the medieval fortifications and, in turn, contemplate in situ the archaeological excavations that will continue for the next decades, in this site considered one of the most important of the Spanish Levant.The Monteagudo Visitor Center will be the benchmark for all historical and archaeological research and will become a pioneering space for scientific dissemination through the most advanced audiovisual systems, which will have 3-dimensional recreations and virtual and augmented reality technology , which will allow to delve into the roots, identity and history of the municipality of Murcia.Fortresses, archaeological sites, ditches and historic roadsThe archaeological park revolves around four strategic elements:1) The recovery of the four fortresses that make up the environment: Monteagudo Castle, Castillejo, Larache Castle and Cabezo de Torres Castle.2) The rehabilitation and visibility of the more than 150 archaeological sites in the area, among which are Iberian and Argaric sites, roads and Roman remains, castles, towers and medieval fortresses, Islamic pools, reservoirs, etc.3) The recovery of irrigation and water storage infrastructures.

The project pays special attention to enhancing the network of ditches and bracers that lead to the Segura water area; a network attested, at least, from the eleventh century.

It is made up of irrigation ditches, chancels and their canals (bracers and showers or landronas and meranchos), as well as pools.4) The enhancement of historic roads.

Integrated by Senda de Granada, Camino Mundo Nuevo, Camino del Collado, Camino del Castillo de Larache and Camino de la Almazara.
