Murcia presents its proposals for the Consortium of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the European Urban Agenda in a digital forum (26/11/2020)

| The City Council leads the initiatives 'Invasion of the Street through the Atomization and Reactivation of Culture' and 'Test tubes' | The City Council, through the European Programs Service, dependent on the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, led by Mercedes Bernabé, has participated in the Forum of the Consortium of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the European Urban Agenda 2030, organized from Berlin by the German Ministry of the Interior and the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The event was held digitally and had more than 250 representatives from different countries on the continent.Murcia's role in this day has been to present the two actions with which it participates as a pilot experience of the European culture roadmap, such as' Invasion of the Street through the Atomization and Reactivation of Culture 'and' essay ', the solutions they provide in the field of culture, as well as their implementation and integration into the objectives and strategies of the European Union and the Urban Agenda.It should be noted that, of the 15 proposals selected initially, eleven will finally participate as a pilot at the European level, after the decision adopted by the Committee of Experts to facilitate the continuity and viability of the ideas presented."These two initiatives that we lead contribute to the strengthening of the cultural identity and well-being of the population, to sustainable cultural tourism, as well as the reuse of public spaces and buildings for cultural purposes in order to strengthen urban resilience through heritage" , explained Mercedes Bernabé, who has intervened in the forum, together with the technicians of the European Programs Service.On the other hand, the event has addressed elements such as culture and cultural heritage as key to urban and regional development, the Partnership of the Urban Agenda on Culture and Cultural Heritage in the context of the New Leipzig Charter and urban connections- rural areas to improve its sustainability, among other issues.This work plan has been drawn up for a year by a group of technicians and experts representing city councils, regions and member states, supported by technicians from the European Commission itself and international organizations, such as the Committee of the Regions, the European Investment Bank.
