"The contempt of Ballesta and his team for the hospitality industry is a clear and obvious example that they are not useful to manage the effects of the pandemic" (25/11/2020)

| Councilor Enrique Lorca lists all the measures that the municipal government could have implemented and regrets that "the only approach of the mayor to this sector has been to show off with events of Murcia Capital Gastronómica" | The Municipal Socialist Group does not see any explanation for the municipal government team, PP and Cs, to continue living on their backs and with their eyes closed to the effects that the pandemic is having on the population, especially in vulnerable sectors.

"We have already said by active and passive that it is at this time when an institution like our City Council, the administration closest to the citizen, must show solidarity, sensitive and agile, however, we see Mayor Ballesta and his team day after day They dedicate themselves to the usual, without addressing the problems or listening to the protests or the cries for help.

They are in the frivolous, in the presentations and the exhibitions, "declares the Socialist councilor Enrique Lorca. Specifically, he affirms that "the contempt of the mayor and his team for the hotel industry is unprecedented, although it is a clear and evident demonstration that they are not useful to manage the effects of the pandemic or to respond to those who will suffer the most" . Lorca, who recalls the protests and demands of the hospitality industry in recent weeks, lists a series of measures that could already be applied to the sector and that he will raise in plenary tomorrow.

However, "so far, what we have found is that PP and Cs have not been brave and their help is limited to an unambitious deck bonus. He insists that there are many smaller municipalities with less economic capacity that are decisively helping the hospitality industry, whose closure due to the incidence of Covid is leading them to ruin, and proposes a one hundred percent discount on the collection rate of garbage and water for all catering establishments that have had to close, as well as 75% for those that have kept open with take away service during the months of November and December of this year.

It also raises the 50% discount for all hospitality establishments during the months of January and February. The Socialist councilor considers that it would also be necessary to deduct from the payment of the second semester of 2020 the rate of chairs and tables in November and December or in the event that they have been collected, proceed to their return. Likewise, it proposes the 100% discount on the rate of chairs and tables for the year 2021 (currently there is a 100% discount for the first semester and a commitment to study it in June if it applies throughout the year), the start-up and call for a line of specific aid for the sector, free for two hours in the car parks managed by Urbamusa (Santa Isabel, Cuartel de Artillería, La Condomina, Ciudad de la Justicia, Arrixaca and Fuente Blanca) by presenting a drink ticket in an establishment of hospitality or purchase in a store for at least € 20. Lorca, who points out that if the Government team really wanted to, many measures could be adopted, such as free for two hours in the ORA service on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings in order to support the hospitality industry and commerce loca or the creation of a working group with the hospitality sector, with the presence of all political parties, to study possible aid and initiatives for this sector. The councilor regrets that "the only approach of Mayor Ballesta to this sector has been to show off punctually with the events of Murcia Gastronomic Capital", so he reminds him that "if he continues without offering help, there will be no places where to celebrate this event" .
