Fifty of Podemos militants in the municipality of Murcia launch an open letter (24/11/2020)

| Advocating for the revitalization of party activity both in neighborhoods and districts and in social movements | The signatories of the document include well-known public figures of Podemos in Murcia such as the musician Manuel Luna, the lawyer José Mateos, members of the university community, representatives of circles and more than a dozen organic positions of the party.

They clarify that they seek to promote a model of municipal organization "more dynamic that enables the active participation of all the activists both in the internal life of the organization and in solving the problems and needs that affect them both in their neighborhood and in their district.

in your sector ”.At the moment, Podemos is immersed in the process of renewing its organic structure in the different municipalities of the Region of Murcia.

After the celebration in May of this year of the congress called "Vistalegre III" at the state level, in which Pablo Iglesias was re-elected as general secretary, and the subsequent election of Javier Sánchez Serna as regional leader of the purple formation in the past In the month of June, the cycle now concludes with the constitution of the different management bodies at the municipal level. In the case of the municipality of Murcia, the almost 200 militants who make up the Podemos census in the capital of the Region and are distributed in 8 active circles, will be called in the coming weeks to elect the members of the council of circles (former Municipal Citizen Council), as well as to designate its municipal spokesperson (former Secretary General).Well, in this context, around 50 militants belonging to each and every one of the validated circles in the municipality, have wanted to make public in the different internal channels of the party an open letter entitled “Towards a we can Murcia (municipal) improved and exciting ”.

Although the list of adhesions to this "open letter" is significant due to its high number, it also stands out for the personal relevance of some of its signatories.

In this sense, we find the current municipal secretaries of feminism and youth and culture, members of the municipal citizen council, the regional council, the so far "links" of circles such as Murcia City, Costera Sur or the old circle of Elders, without forget the presence of members of the youth organization Rebeldia.Quique Saura, one of the signatories and current municipal organic position, has indicated that “in the letter we defend an alternative to the organization model that we currently have in the municipality, that is, it is an alternative for everything to remain the same, to lower our arms .

And these new ideas are very useful and necessary, because continuing as up to now would mean resigned to not giving the working people of Murcia much of what this organization is capable of offering.

"The document, whose length is 3 pages and two annexes, begins by stating that "the organization and functioning of our party at the Murcia municipality level must be improved as soon as possible", to continue stating that "a good part of the militancy, go on the fringes of the daily activity of our party and without authorized participation channels to turn to ”.

In this sense, there is talk of the scarce activity of bodies such as the Municipal Citizen Council or the Coordination Council since 2018, as well as the absence of mechanisms in the municipality for accountability or political feedback between leaders, for a side, and militancy and circles, on the other.

In addition, it is stated that “it is necessary to energize and reactivate this party at the municipal level with the people and for the people. This should be a task for all conscientious militants ”. In the second part of the text, it is detailed "how it should be organizationally" We can in the municipality of Murcia according to their approaches.

In a decalogue of measures grouped into 3 sections ("assemblyism and horizontality", "bodies that function" and "betting on militancy"), it is advocated, among other things, to establish periodic and open assemblies that, taking place in neighborhoods and alternate districts, have a decisive character on the political activity that the purple formation has to develop at the municipal level and, likewise, allow to render accounts on the work that has been carried out up to that moment.Likewise, it is advocated that the meetings of the municipal executive are always open to the intervention of any militant, and it is also defended that a monthly and detailed exposition of the accounts, income and expenses of training in the municipality be carried out .Finally, there is a need to make an effort to create groups of active activists of reference to count on in the different neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.

For this reason, the document is committed to "forming a militancy with critical capacity against the neoliberal and far-right hegemony prevailing in our Region." In the same way, a series of communication initiatives aimed at the militancy and which, in turn, intend to rely on it for their elaboration, are listed.

Among all this, the intention to launch a monthly newsletter that addresses and makes known everything related to Podemos in the municipality of Murcia stands out.According to some of its signatories, the objective of this initiative is to achieve a broad consensus within the militancy of the municipality of Murcia so that, in the different elective assemblies of circles that will take place before the end of the year, this project of organization and the political philosophy that champion are supported by the majority.

In such a way that, the future Council of municipal circles and, therefore, the next executive of Podemos in the capital of the Region, are made up of a majority of militants committed to the early implementation of the "organizational regeneration" to the referenced in the document. In addition, some of the promoters of this initiative, such as Angie Brito (currently secretary of youth and culture at the municipal level), have wanted to eliminate any hint of suspicion, stating that: “This project has the vocation to reach out to any militant .

In fact, if it goes ahead, those who work in municipal institutions will benefit from a more active militancy that will make the work of Podemos more visible in this and other areas.
