The role of the teacher, key to eradicating violence against women (24/11/2020)

So far this year 40 women have died in Spain victims of gender violence, that is why the UCAM wanted to commemorate the international day for the elimination of violence against women, with an act held in the cloister of the Monastery of los Jerónimos, coordinated by the International Chair for Women, Business and Sports. Estrella Núñez, Vice-Rector for Research at UCAM, has inaugurated the event, highlighting the role that women play in society and that in this university there are several women occupying relevant positions.

María Jesús Bonilla, director of the Chair, has intervened after the reading of the manifesto, by Judit Perera, student of Education, in which the role of teachers to train in values, human rights and responsibility has been highlighted, setting up as a powerful tool to fight against gender-based violence, educate young people, ensure equal parts dignity and promote an egalitarian CV. Students of the Degree in Dance have offered an emotional choreography, which has served as a tribute to all women, demanding equality and sending a message of hope and commitment to eradicate this scourge.
