In my department nothing is talked about other than people and we are going to implement as many policies and measures are necessary to overcome the social scourge of gender violence suffered by women.

Each new case is a setback that we all bear as a society and we will not rest until these violent behaviors are eradicated.

"The increase in actions that the EMAVI has developed is attributed by its technicians, among other factors, to the fact that the coronavirus pandemic has favored the worsening of the socioeconomic precarious conditions in which many women found themselves, creating new needs for social and economic support .The pandemic as an aggravating factorIn addition, the worsening of social conditions due to the pandemic has favored couple tensions to escalate and on many occasions the woman and minor children have had to leave the family home, requiring specialized care due to their condition of victims of gender violence.Likewise, they point out that the comprehensive and interdisciplinary interventions that require attention to cases of gender violence have been affected by greater complexity, since the problem of gender violence is currently joined to a greater extent by the lack of economic resources , unemployment and the absence of a social and family support network.Currently, the EMAVI team is made up of 4 social educators, 1 social worker, 2 psychologists, 1 legal advisor and 1 coordinator.

It also has reception resources for women and their children who, for reasons of protection and security, have to leave their homes, and may be sheltered for a period of up to 12 months.

The total capacity of reception is 20, distributed in 4 houses.Social, psychological and legal care for victimsThe municipal team provides direct attention to women, through guidance, specialized professional advice (socio-educational, psychological and legal) and accompaniment in their personal process, aimed at achieving the emotional, social and economic independence of the aggressor, training women to develop an autonomous life.Foster care is also carried out in the shelter of women and their children when there are situations of risk to their integrity or due to characteristics of special vulnerability that require it.Personalized attention focuses on assessing the situation of each woman, prioritizing the protection and safety of her and her dependent children, assessing the risk, and making available the necessary resources to get out of this situation.Actions made with funds from the State PactThe actions carried out this year 2020 by the EMAVI were presented during the meeting of the Municipal Commission for the Monitoring of Gender Violence held on November 20.

The meeting also presented information and training actions to promote equality between women and men and the prevention of gender violence, developed under the grants from the State Pact in 2019 and 2020.For example, the installation of Violet Points was carried out during the festive moments of great influx of public in the municipality of Murcia, with the main objective of informing the general public of the right of women to decide and the care services in situations of sexist violence.
