The PSOE proposes to restore face-to-face classes from Infant to second year of ESO (24/11/2020)

Councilor Antonio Benito shows the "enormous damage to our schoolchildren, who suffer a tremendous disadvantage compared to the rest of the country's students, seeing the quality of their teaching diminished and their right to attend class daily, in addition to the serious problems of conciliation to families " The Municipal Socialist Group is committed to returning to the classroom, so that all students can exercise their fundamental right to Education under equal conditions and the consequences of the suspension of the classroom activity during the last term of the previous year can be alleviated .

In a motion that the socialist councilor Antonio Benito will defend in the next plenary session, he proposes to recover the presence in educational centers from Infant to second year of Compulsory Secondary Education. In this regard, Benito recalls the decision of the regional government to establish the blended modality in all stages, "thus becoming the only autonomous community in our country to deprive thousands of students of Infant and Primary Education every day of attending class, which is causing enormous damage to our schoolchildren, who not only suffer a tremendous disadvantage compared to the rest of the country's students, seeing the quality of their teaching diminished and their right to attend class daily, but also , is generating serious conciliation problems for families, to which, to date, no solution has been given, with an announced Concilia plan that has not materialized in anything ". Likewise, Benito points out "the inequality that the Government of the Region of Murcia is generating among the students of the Region itself, since around 30% study in classrooms that do not exceed the ratio established by the Ministry of Education to adopt the blended model, while 70% are affected by this measure, by exceeding 20 students per classroom in Infant and Primary or 24 in later stages.

A circumstance that increases, even more, the offense with which the regional government is punishing to our students, generating an unequal education and at different rates, depending on the center and the municipality in which they study, thus breaking with the criteria of equity and equal opportunities in access to this basic public service ". In addition, in recent weeks we have learned that the Ministry of Education is arbitrarily authorizing only some centers, and not all, as it should be, the enabling of their available spaces to create multilevel bubble classrooms in order to avoid having a part of your student body to stay home.

This, of course, is putting the patience of families in the Region of Murcia to the limit, as they feel that their sons and daughters are treated unequally depending on the educational center in which they study. From the Municipal Socialist Group we have been demanding the Ministry of Education and Culture for more than two months to use the COVID-19 funds, which the Government of Spain has sent to the Region for Education, to guarantee full presence in the classrooms, with all security conditions, just as the rest of the autonomous communities have done.

For this, the necessary teachers must be hired for this purpose, enable all the necessary spaces and unfold the classrooms that exceed the maximum ratio established to guarantee the minimum safety distances.

In this way, the unsupportive blended modality would end, at least in the early educational stages, and the same treatment would be given to all students in the Region of Murcia, thus avoiding the disadvantage that tens of thousands of male and female students are suffering. And remember that on November 6, the Education and Culture Commission of the Regional Assembly approved a motion, at the request of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, in which the Regional Government was urged to immediately return to presence in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and the first two courses of ESO, in addition to the provision of resources for the correct online care of those students of courses and later stages, while their full presence is not possible. Therefore, it insists on this agreement, in order to immediately restore the face-to-face modality in the stages of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and the first two years of Compulsory Secondary Education, providing all public educational centers with the necessary teachers to reduce the ratios and split the largest groups, in addition to enabling the precise educational spaces and with all the security measures.

This will avoid discrimination between schools and students.

In addition, in the courses and subsequent stages, as long as the health situation does not allow a return to face-to-face modality, the councilor demands that all centers be provided with the necessary resources to guarantee adequate distance educational care.
