A special plan will eliminate 6,000 m2 of graffiti from the green areas of the municipality (24/11/2020)

| The action is being carried out on the facades of buildings that are located on the perimeter of the parks and gardens of districts and neighborhoods, which spoil and dirty the environment | The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez and the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, have visited the Constitution garden this morning where cleaning actions are being carried out within the new special plan to eliminate graffiti of the green areas of the municipality.The action, with which it is intended to eliminate another 6000 m² of these vandalism graffiti, is being carried out on the facades of those buildings that are attached to the gardens of neighborhoods and districts, which affect the general state of the green areas, squares, parks and gardens."From the Department of Urban Development, and specifically the Service of Parks and Gardens, we join the actions that are carried out by the department responsible for cleaning Rebeca Pérez, to intensify the work of removing graffiti in the surroundings of green areas.

With this specific plan for parks and gardens, the teams of our council join this action, to those who usually dedicate themselves to these tasks from the Sustainable Mobility and Youth council "has reported José Guillén."With this action we intend that our gardens are open-air spaces where neighbors can enjoy a friendly and clean environment.

In total, 856 m² of these graffiti have already been eliminated in these areas and within this new crash plan.The procedure that is being followed for the elimination of these vandalism actions is the cleaning of the walls and facades, which can be seen from the garden, and their surroundings.

In addition, for the first time, a campaign will be carried out, placing information posters on buildings, informing in the media and social networks, so that neighbors can contact the Parks and Gardens service or the Graffiti Office and can request the cleaning of these vandalism graffiti.The places where it is planned to act in the coming weeks now add up to 64 areas distributed by districts and neighborhoods.

For this we have the municipal graffiti office that allows us to coordinate and manage these actions, giving them visibility and promoting the municipality's young talent ", concluded Rebeca Pérez.Since the creation of the Municipal Graffiti Office in 2015, the Consistory has intervened in more than 40,000 square meters, eliminating vandalism graffiti and building, in turn, a kind of outdoor urban art museum in the streets of Murcia.Thanks to this device, Murcian neighborhoods and districts already have more than 60 artistic murals.

In this context, the Consistory recalls the importance of the collaboration of the neighbors to keep these spaces clean, with the aim that the actions that are being carried out last over time.Through this initiative, in addition, Murcia begins to establish itself as a benchmark for urban art at the national level, with murals such as the one on Avenida Primero de Mayo, 32 meters high and 12 meters wide - hundreds of people have come to the Office of the Graffiti interested in the location of the murals to visit them.
