The Cooperation Council proposes the award of subsidies to 20 NGOs established in the municipality of Murcia (22/11/2020)

| The allocation reaches almost half a million euros that will be used to pay for the start-up of 20 cooperation projects, 5 for humanitarian aid and 3 for education and awareness | The Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity, chaired by the mayor Paqui Pérez, has proposed the award of grants for cooperation, humanitarian aid and awareness and education to a score of NGOs established in the municipality of Murcia, for a total amount that reaches the 497,785 euros. Of this amount, 349,623 euros will go to the development of twenty cooperation projects, 87,689 euros to the implementation of five humanitarian aid initiatives and 30,000 euros will be for education and awareness projects.Cooperation ProjectsThe NGOs selected to carry out the cooperation projects have been the following: Arquitectura Sin Fronteras Spain (improvement of food security and educational conditions in 8 rural communities in Nicaragua), Aztívate Association (health care for children under 6 years of age in Kenya ), Entrepueblos Association (gender equality and environmental sustainability in post-Covid times in Mexico), Murcia Acoge Association (good practices for the prevention of sexual abuse and pregnancy in girls and adolescents in Peru), Museke Association (construction of a center of child care for minors living in extreme poverty), Asociación Palliri (comprehensive education and health improvement against Covid-19 in children and adolescents in El Alto Bolivia),Asociación Solidaridad Médica España (construction of a shelter for women and children victims of gender violence in the Bolivian Amazon jungle), Azul en Acción (health intervention in ophthalmology and provision of equipment and material against Covid-19 to health workers in emergency services at the Mbour hospital in Senegal), Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena (reception of minors living on the streets of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia), Vincentian Cooperation for Development (improve the nutritional level of the population of Sacaba in Bolivia), Delwende al Servicio de la Vida (support for child nutrition and education in an area of ??the Philippines), Fundación Cepaim (promote food security and guarantee income for peasant women in an area of ??Senegal),Fundación Entreculturas Fe y Alegría (reactivating and strengthening rural entrepreneurship of women in Peru), Fundación FADE (education in nutrition, hygiene and health strategies in a medical dispensary in a rural area of ??Cameroon), Fundación Juan Ciudad (guarantee the right to health and water for the vulnerable population of Sierra Leone), Mainel Foundation (access to ARV therapy and mitigation of psychosocial impact for children and women of the Democratic Republic of the Congo), UNICEF Foundation (reverse the school exclusion of more invisible minors vulnerable communities in Senegal), Karit Solidarios por la Paz (elimination of the salary gap for students from the Madre Asunción de Orellana and Sucumbíos educational center in Ecuador),Manos Unidas (strengthening the demand for the human right to water in four cantons of the province of Orellana and Sucumbíos, in Ecuador) and Solidaridad, Educación y Desarrollo (to promote the right to education in Ivory Coast).Humanitarian aidFor its part, the five selected projects for humanitarian aid are for the Murcia Acoge Association (strengthening capacities to face the Covid-19 pandemic in an organized and committed way in Peru), the Palliri Association (access to nutritious food and development of new models agro-ecological production plants in Bolivia), Fundación Juan Ciudad (mitigate the effects caused by Covid-19 among health personnel at the Cristo de las Américas hospital in Sucre and 7 community health centers in Bolivia), Fundación Mainel (emergency care for 22 vulnerable families in the face of the effects of Covid-19 in a municipality in Guatemala), Fundación Unicef ??(care for separated and unaccompanied children in northwestern Nigeria).Awareness and education campaignsFor education and awareness, the projects of Azul en Acción (awareness campaign and education for visual health), Manos Unidas (One world, 17 challenges: building a supportive citizenship and committed to sustainable development), and Fundación Juan have been selected.

City (with the # YoSoyComoTú project).SDG targetsThe sectoral priorities that have been taken into account when selecting the NGO projects that will receive subsidies are those whose objectives contribute to the achievement and fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and those that promote actions in the areas of education, health, human rights, participation and social and productive promotion, infrastructure, environment, governance, women's empowerment, gender equality, food security, Education for Development (EPD) and temporary reception of minors from countries in developing.Priority areasAnother aspect that has also been taken into account are the so-called priority geographic areas, classified by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) or in the list of countries of the Development Assistance Committee (CAD) of the beneficiary countries of ODA (Official Development Assistance), as well as other cross-cutting aspects that contribute to the promotion of gender equality, human rights and respect for the environment.The mayor of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation has highlighted "the commitment and commitment of the Murcia City Council to maintain these aids that contribute to the progress of vulnerable groups in regions and municipalities of developing countries, especially in such difficult times and complicated as the ones we are experiencing due to the pandemic that is undoubtedly affecting the developing countries and the most vulnerable groups with the greatest virulence.
