The PSOE proposes in the Gender Violence Commission acts on the occasion of the 25N that silence the attempts to deny this social scourge (20/11/2020)

Councilor Teresa Franco believes that "making visible the women murdered this year during this day is intended to shout against sexist violence and also serves as a tribute to the victims" The Municipal Socialist Group wants to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 with an act that "flatly silences the attempts to deny this social scourge or to confuse it," declares the Socialist councilor Teresa Franco, who has proposed this morning in the Commission on Gender Violence to place empty chairs with a purple bow in the Plaza Cardenal Belluga in memory and representation of the 40 women murdered so far this year at the hands of their partners and former partners. "From the Municipal Socialist Group, we want to combine the visibility of the victims of gender violence with the security and protection measures against Covid-19.

We believe that with the placement of chairs and the reading of a manifesto these measures are guaranteed", explains Franco, who has asked the rest of the political groups to support the event, as well as has promised to participate in others that are held within the scope of the Murcia City Council. The councilor affirms that the "idea is that the commitment of the political representatives with the eradication of sexist violence, and within these the specific one of gender violence, has to be absolute.

And we understand that this commitment goes through making this violence visible where murders are the greatest exponent, in fact, this year we have already been 40 murdered by sexist men and three minors.

" Teresa Franco declares that "if institutions like our City Council are not clear about these concepts, we will continue to give wings to this social scourge.

We cannot allow ourselves a crack and, of course, it cannot be allowed that in municipal boards such as San Pío, The three right-wing forces come together to defame and lie against gender violence by comparing women murdered at the hands of their partners or ex-partners with those killed by ETA.

Although all deaths hurt, this comparison is an aberration, a nonsense with the one that only gets confusion and denial, take steps back and not a single solution to solve this serious current problem, which continues to increase the number of victims.

" Likewise, the councilor insists that "the institutions have to be clear, blunt and courageous, and they must also get rid of those representatives who are not qualified, which is causing them to spread homophobic, denial and simplistic messages at their ease that in the long run it will return this society to a dark, stale and primitive past.

" For all this, it proposes "making visible the women murdered this year during the day of 25N, thus we will achieve several goals, shouting against sexist violence and also honoring their victims."
