The PSOE asks PP and Cs to return to the Hiring Table to guarantee greater transparency (18/11/2020)

| The socialist councilor Andrés Guerrero, presents a motion to the November plenary session in which he demands that representatives of the opposition be included in the Contracting to ensure transparency and participation | "After many years, in the previous legislature it was achieved that the opposition was included in the hiring processes, but unfortunately this new government team has found excuses to return to previous practices and eliminate us from the board to walk at ease", Guerrero regrets. Transparency in municipal life must occur in all areas, however, if there is one where it should prevail, it is, without a doubt, in the matter of contracting.

"The Contracting Table is the place where it is decided to whom the municipal contracts will be awarded and is therefore a very important body in the activity of our City Council.

We do not understand why no opposition group can be part of this, in order to propose, monitor, contribute ...

This lack of will of PP and Citizens to include us smells bad.

It is the only way to guarantee our neighbors the transparency of these processes.

", explains Councilor Guerrero. For many years the participation of the opposition groups of the Murcia City Council was denied in one of the most important technical bodies at the municipal level: the so-called Contracting Table.

"In the previous term, however, thanks to the fact that the PP lost its absolute majority, this tendency was broken and for the first time in many years, members of the opposition were able to participate in this Table", explains the socialist mayor.

"Today, the new government team, made up of PP and Citizens, has completely forgotten this exercise of transparency and, using the new public sector contract law as an excuse, has returned to its customs, not admitting councilors from the opposition in the formation of said table.

They eliminate us from the board and thus they roam at ease, "laments Guerrero. "It is a pity that good practices are lost, which cost a lot to achieve and of which, unfortunately, we are not overflowing in this City Council," the socialist also reproaches.

"In recent times there is a lot of debate, even within the Government team itself, about municipal contracting and we consider it essential that there be representatives of the different political groups simply to guarantee transparency and participation," Guerrero argues.

"It is not the first time that the PP shows that it does not like participation very much, but we ask it to make an effort," he clarifies. In the Municipal Socialist Group we consider that this situation should be reversed "and for this reason we take this motion to the plenary session in November requesting the participation of the opposition in said body.

If they do not include us, we are not going to sit back.

We will continue to demand the place that corresponds to us, "concludes the councilor.
