Operational research is defined as the discipline that seeks solutions for the management of large systems through the application of advanced analytical methods that help decision-making.
Operational research solves complex problems in any field, whether in the field of industry, economy, commerce, defense or administration, among others. In addition, his doctoral thesis has been awarded the first prize of the 'SOLA Dissertation Award', a biannual competition that rewards the best doctoral thesis worldwide in the field of 'localization science' produced in the last two years.
The contest is organized by the Section on Locational Analysis (SOLA) of the Institutue for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
His doctoral thesis, entitled 'Set packing, location and related problems', was developed under the direction of Professor Alfredo Marín Pérez, from the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Murcia. Pelegrín García was a student at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Murcia in the double degree of the Degree in Mathematics and Degree in Computer Engineering.
He also obtained a Master's Degree in Advanced Mathematics at the UMU and his PhD in Mathematics.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Chair 'Integrated Urban Mobility' at L'École Polytechnique Palaiseau CEDEX, in France.
