Murcia requests that 14% of European reconstruction funds be allocated to city councils and local entities (16/11/2020)

| Murcia requests the implementation of a pre-financing mechanism for local administrations, outside the limits of the expenditure rule, to guaranteeing the implementation of the new European funds | Murcia has claimed that the participation of Local Entities in the Recovery Funds of the European Union be proportional to the participation of the Local Administration in Public Expenditure and therefore in the direct management of 14-15% of the total of said Funds .The crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted that Local Entities are the great ally of citizens, they are the administrations that are helping citizens both socially and economically.Within this framework, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Development, José Guillén, this morning attended the ordinary meeting of the International Relations Commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), where issues at the European level were discussed , international and cooperation."This figure would be applied in the field of budgetary stability, assuming the economic weight of Local Governments in the Gross Domestic Product.

Everything that is less than 14% is not acceptable, since the municipalities are being an example of collaboration and cooperation and they have to play a fundamental role to get out of this crisis and leave no one behind ", José Guillén stressed. In this way, the need to participate in European funds has been made public, claiming to the Government of Spain that I did not border the municipalities.

For this reason, the Murcia City Council has claimed the role of cities in the distribution of European funds and a clear mechanism for their distribution. For her part, the councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has insisted that "the role of cities and municipalities are a priority in the social sphere.

We face daily problems, so we need greater certainty and resources in this uncertain scenario ".
