| Murcia is the first city in the world to have incorporated NaviLens technology into its street signs, a project framed within the Murcia Smart municipal strategy City | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, and the Mayor of Culture and Recovery of Heritage, Jesús Pacheco, attended this morning the placement of the first Smart Plates of Murcia, a project framed within the Murcia Smart City strategy, which will allow all pedestrians, without distinction, to know the history of the city's streets in different formats and languages, through the latest technology and the innovative NaviLens accessibility system ."With the implementation of this project we are taking a further step towards accessibility, because it will allow people with visual, auditory and cognitive disabilities to receive information about the history and culture of Murcia through the mobile phone," said José Ballesta during the event, that has taken place in Trapería, one of the streets where this new system has already been enabled.During the meeting, the Murcian councilor said that "it is an innovative project, since Murcia is the first city in the world to have incorporated NaviLens technology into its street signs, within the Murcia Smart City smart city strategy" .List of the first streets with Smart PlatesIn addition to Trapería, the streets San Patricio, Glorieta de España, del Arenal, Frenería, Sculptor Nicolás Salzillo, Azucaque, Prieto, Barrionuevo, Marín Baldo, Architect Cerdán Martínez, Painter Manuel Avellaneda, Montijo, Platería, San Cristóbal, Arco de Santo Domingo , Serrano Alcázar and Andrés Baquero, as well as the Cardenal Belluga, Hernández Amores and Santo Domingo squares, are the enclaves that already have the first Smart Plates.681 plaques will cover the route of the Medieval WallIn this first phase, the initiative is being extended to all the streets that follow the route of the Medieval Wall, encompassing a total of 176 streets, which will have about 681 plates.

All are scheduled to be installed by the end of November. The second phase, which will begin on November 25 and will conclude before the end of the year, will encompass the streets surrounding the Wall, between José Loustau and Pasos de Santiago, crossing the Plaza Circular, Ronda Levante and Primo de Rivera, as well as some streets in districts. Finally, the third phase will start next summer, in a gradual process, with which the replacement of all the plates in the municipality - between 30,000 and 35,000 - will be undertaken.Codes that can be detected from afarSpecifically, the new plates have incorporated the NaviLens codes, with which users, through any mobile device, with the NaviLens and NaviLens GO applications, can learn the history that gives its name to the street and the corresponding neighborhood , as well as obtain more information related to them.

For the preparation of this content, the work of the Municipal Archive of Murcia has been used.In this context, Murcia is the first city in the world to incorporate NaviLens codes on its street signs - a new digital signage based on color codes, which allows reading contextualized information about a place in different formats and languages , incorporating historical images of the place or plans of the time. The main innovation of these codes, unlike QR codes, is that they can be detected at a great distance, which allows them to be placed at a great height.

In addition, they do not need to be focused or framed on the mobile and, therefore, they can be used by people with visual disabilities as well as by any neighbor, visitor or tourist.Information in different formats and through 33 languagesUsing NaviLens technology, users will be able to obtain information through different formats - images and videos, links, arrows for guidance in augmented reality, audible and spoken content integrated with VoiceOver and TalkBack, etc.

- and across 33 languages. The first city in the world to implement this systemThe codes will also help citizens and tourists to move around the city, guiding them through a new augmented reality arrow system that will also offer additional information, such as places of interest or local businesses. It is an innovative technology that has already been successfully tested in the New York, Los Angeles and Barcelona subways, and in different public services in the city of Murcia, such as buses, trams and museums, but has not yet been implemented.

carried out on street signs, Murcia being the first city in the world to carry out this project.Murcia Smart City This project, promoted by the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, led by José Guillén, is framed within the Murcia Smart City municipal strategy, which is developed through the MiMurcia project, the smart city model that puts the latest technological innovations at the service of people, improving the quality of life of Murcia and the sustainability of the environment.Through Murcia Smart City, the information related to accessibility will be enriched, expanding through the incorporation of geolocation of the plates, allowing their reading to guide citizens, providing them with information, for example, of the surrounding streets and their position.

.All these data will be available by having in the Smart City platform the exact position of each plate, its height and its orientation with respect to the north —the platform accesses the information collected in the Territorial Information System of the Murcia City Council, which will be integrated and managed from CEUS (Single Monitoring Center) -.In the successive phases of implementation, Murcia Smart City will allow obtaining more sources of municipal data collected in real time that can be provided to the citizen, as well as directing them to the links of Municipal Web Portals where they can expand the information.Applications to read NaviLens codes.Para acceder a la información, los usuarios con discapacidad visual deberán descargar la aplicación NaviLens, compatible también con Transportes de Murcia y Tranvía de Murcia.
