The City Council initiates the first action for the elaboration of the CSR strategy with the tables of experts and interest groups (16/11/2020)

The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government inaugurates the first of the five meetings that will be held between now and November 24 through virtual agoras and will deal with good governance, economic management, social inclusion, the environment and the cultural and tourist modelThe City Council, through the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government directed by Mercedes Bernabé, initiates the first action for the development of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy with the celebration, from today until November 24, of work tables with interest groups and experts through virtual agoras.Thus, after the 2019 report presented last July, the following meetings will be held, which will focus on the five strategic axes: 'Good Government' (November 16); 'Economic and Responsible Management' (November 17); 'Social Inclusion and Wellbeing' (November 17); 'Environment' (November 24); and 'Cultural Model and Sustainable Tourism' (November 24).“Once the tables are finished, the contributions will be analyzed and added to the draft, which will be reviewed again and presented to the Social Council before its final edition.

Subsequently and during the period of validity of the Strategy, the team of experts will follow a process of monitoring and evaluation ”, explained Mercedes Bernabé, who today opened the table on 'Good Governance'.The virtual agora is a digital tool for citizen participation that consists of a telematic meeting with socioeconomic agents on an issue in order to put the relevant points to be discussed on the table and thus find joint solutions.Good Governance and Transparency, first tableThe phase of consultation with experts and interest groups begins today with the table on 'Good Government', in which the processes of transparency, dialogue and participation and administrative innovation will be analyzed in order to bring the municipal administration closer to the citizen.

This first group of experts is made up of Julián Pérez Templado, President of the Transparency Council of the Region of Murcia, Javier Parra, Secretary of Government of the TSJRM, José David Hernández, General Director of Administrative Regeneration of CARM, Sofía Driéguez, Director of the CARM Transparency Office, and by Germán Teruel, professor of Constitutional Law at the UMU, in addition to the municipal technicians.For the mayor, “we continue working on the development of this strategy that will allow us to design the foundations of a city that looks towards the future with responsibility, aware of caring for the environment and protecting the most vulnerable groups.

With this document we begin a commitment project that will try to listen, improve and be accountable to each of the Murcian men and women ”.The team in charge of developing the City Council's CSR strategy is made up of the director of the CSR Chair at the University of Murcia, Longinos Marín, the person in charge of the CSR project in Public Administrations of said chair, María Dolores Abellán, and Pedro J.

Cuestas, training director of the Chair.Within the framework of the Spanish Urban AgendaThe City Council's Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy is framed within the sustainable development policies integrated in the Murcia Urban Agenda 2030 and aligned with objective 10 of the Spanish Urban Agenda, the purpose of which is to 'improve intervention instruments and governance'.“Murcia is the first large city in Spain to draw up a report on Corporate Social Responsibility, a document that represents a further step in transparency, turning the council into a model to follow of good practices, both at the national and European level.

We are also now taking the first step to develop a municipal Corporate Social Responsibility strategy ”, Mercedes Bernabé concluded.
