The installation of more than 300 ballot boxes in businesses will encourage neighborhood participation in South Connection to gather ideas and proposals (13/11/2020)

The process will be active until December 6.

 This project has the support of the Murcia Commercial Area Federation, whose president, Santiago Vera, has participated today in the presentation of the initiative together with the president of the Carmen Merchants Association, José Oñate, and the president of the Municipal Board of the Barrio del Carmen, Sofía López-Briones.The councilors Bernabé and Hernández have completed a tour of several streets of the Barrio del Carmen during which they have been delivering to the establishments the ballot boxes and the forms that all residents who are interested in participating in this initiative can fill out.Make improvements directlyThe measure represents another milestone in the participatory process of the Murcia South Connection project and will allow citizens to transfer proposals to the plan and propose improvements that can be made in their territories.

Next week the municipal boards of South Connection will centralize the generalized delivery of the ballot boxes in the businesses of their districts and neighborhoods.The forms completed by citizens will be collected every week for subsequent analysis by the competent technicians.

The surveys that are deposited in the polls will have a contact section in which those interested can request an appointment with the City Council or arrange a meeting.This initiative will promote that each business in each district and each neighborhood in turn becomes a living headquarters of South Connection.

In the same way, it will try to serve as a stimulus to local businesses with the aim of helping to increase consumption by neighbors.South Connection Masks as a giftThose who fill out the survey and deposit it in the polls and fill in the contact section with their data will be sent a personalized South Connection mask with the name of their district or neighborhood or the name of Murcia.The installation of the ballot boxes will take place throughout the territory in which the South Connection will be developed, such as the districts and neighborhoods of El Carmen, San Pío X, Barriomar, Santiago el Mayor, El Progreso, Infante Juan Manuel, Patiño, Nonduermas and Pains.It is one of the actions framed in the participatory process of South Connection, designed and structured around three axes: accessibility, transparency and scientific rigor.

In this way, the more than 70,000 residents will be the protagonists and in charge of transforming their own environment and will do so through different mechanisms and tools.Human project“Conexion Sur is the most important transformation project in the recent history of Murcia and we want each neighbor to feel that they are part of this great project.

The Murcia of the future we are going to design together ”, Mercedes Bernabé highlighted.For his part, Juan Fernando Hernández has highlighted the importance of businesses for the promotion of actions that promote participation, "since they are fundamental enclaves for the economic and social development of the environment, neuralgic nuclei that, without a doubt, will play an important role in the implementation of this process ”.In the development of this initiative, the presidents of the municipal councils will play a fundamental role, which are the organs with the greatest neighborhood representation and those that maintain a closer relationship both with the associations and with the neighbors in their environment.Other actions of the participatory processThe first phase of the participatory process of South Connection will run until December 16 and will lay its foundations on the principles of urban recovery and mobility, health and sustainability, environment, green spaces and connections, social structure, identity and culture, as well as trade and economic activity.To the placement of ballot boxes in business premises, we must add the individual meetings that are already taking place with representatives of the more than 150 groups that carry out their activity in the southern neighborhoods.Participation will be extended next week to surrounding schools, where school activities will be organized such as the drawing and painting contest called 'Imagine your neighborhood'.

Likewise, other actions aimed at young people will be developed.Virtual agoras with neighborsThe virtual agoras with the residents of the different towns will be held from November 25, as well as the neighborhood meetings, also scheduled for next week.

The participatory process will end with the presentation of the results to the Social Council of the City on December 16.All the information on the participatory process, schedules and dates of the actions can be found on the murciaconexionsur.es web portal.Pedestrian routes, open spaces and green areasThe creation of pedestrian and cycle routes, the construction of living spaces, the increase in free spaces and the general use of trees and vegetation will focus the urbanization works that will be carried out with South Connection in the spaces freed after the integration of the network railway in the city of Murcia.
