The Council for Cooperation and Solidarity renews NGO representatives through a telematic lottery (11/11/2020)

| The six non-governmental organizations chosen by lottery will be part of this body for a year and may participate in ordinary and extraordinary meetings that are held | The Council for Cooperation and Solidarity, chaired by councilor Paqui Pérez, has renewed this afternoon, through a telematic draw, the representatives of the six Murcian NGOs that will be part of this body for a period of one year, and which are the following: Alliance for Rights, Cepaim Foundation, Palliri Association, Azul en Acción, Juan Ciudad and Red Cross.After welcoming the new members of the Council, the mayor Paqui Pérez has expressed her gratitude to the six non-governmental organizations that have been part of the body during the last year: Fundación Unicef, Manos Unidad, Asociación Respons Solidarias, Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena , Asociación Ayuda a los Niños de Bolivia and Vincentian Cooperation for Development (CONVIDE-AMVE) "On behalf of the Murcia City Council and on my own behalf, I thank you greatly for your participation and I convey to you my desire to be able to count on your invaluable participation in future renovations," he said.Regarding the new members of the six NGOs chosen today by lottery, their representatives will be able to participate in the ordinary meetings, which are held every six months; and in extraordinary cases, when they are summoned by the president of the Council or requested by a third of its members.Its functions include advising the City Council and collaborating with it in matters of cooperation and solidarity, proposing to the Consistory the adoption of measures to comply with the budgetary items for this purpose and their distribution, as well as knowing the projects presented and the bases of the announcements of the subsidies that are made annually.Likewise, they must propose actions for the dissemination of the values ??of peace, tolerance, solidarity and the non-violent solution of conflicts, in addition to channeling the participation of citizens in the face of catastrophes, unforeseen events and emergency situations through a fund created for this purpose, among other tasks.In addition to these six NGOs, the Council for Cooperation and Solidarity is made up of the Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, who serves as president; a councilor from each municipal group, five members appointed by the Local Government Board, two people of recognized prestige and dedication to tasks related to the purposes of this body, and a secretary.
