| The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presents the new publication, in collaboration with the Murcian Society of Anthropology (SOMA) and the Chair of Social Anthropology of the University of Murcia | The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, today presented the guide 'Other Murcians.

Footprints of Europeanization 'that will allow us to discover some of the curiosities and ins and outs of the Nuestro Padre Jesús Cemetery, in Espinardo. This is the fifth publication that is launched on the municipal cemetery in collaboration with the Murcian Society of Anthropology (SOMA) and the Chair of Social Anthropology at the University of Murcia. The new libretto, coordinated by UMU professors Pedro Martínez Cavero and Klaus Schriewer, contains, as in previous editions, the biographies of men and women whose lives tell the history of the city and the Region. On this occasion, the protagonists will be Murcian migrants, those people who once came to Murcia for different reasons and prospered in this land.

Thus, the guide highlights the lives of characters such as the city's first dentist, Carlos Francelius, the family of French stokers, Delandre, who arrived in Murcia with the railroad, as well as cases such as that of Manuel Massotti Littel, who were born and contributed to Murcian society. For Felipe Coello, "we subscribe one more year to our collaboration with SOMA to value the cultural heritage of the cemetery and deepen our knowledge of the lives and vicissitudes of so many Murcians who rest in this cemetery."  On the occasion of Covid-19, the guided visits to the cemetery, as has been done in previous years, are canceled, but those interested can download the guide for free at https://ayuntamientomurcia-salud.es to learn about some of the curiosities from the cemetery. As in the rest of the guides, this publication has been prepared within the framework of the subject of Anthropology of European Societies of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Murcia. This year it also has the recognition of the European Union, which supports the project of a Jean Monnet Chair in the Faculty of Philosophy of the UM, within which the subject is registered.

Likewise, the development of this guide is part of the teaching innovation project 'Aprender Investigando', carried out by the GIDAI group of the UMU.
