Some scenarios that highlight a growing problem in our municipality: the lack of healthy leisure that young people from Murcia have.
In this sense, the socialist mayor Carmen Fructuoso has expressed: "It is clear that the young people of Murcia do not have spaces, nor offers of healthy leisure.
The Murcia City Council is not offering them alternatives outside the clandestine bottle.
Neither Ballesta nor his team are at the height: they do not know the needs of young people, nor their interests, nor do they know how to make a realistic offer that fits what they demand ", protests Fructuoso. It is clear that the situation caused by the Covid corners young people and leaves them lacking in resources and tools.
"Meanwhile the Government team notifies us that it considers the support plan for young people for their training and personal and professional development to be fulfilled.
They believe that by investing in aid to obtain a driver's license and language certificates, young people are covered" , denounces the mayor referring to one of the points of the Murcia Plan for Social and Economic Recovery that the Government team has already taken for granted.
"Making a plan to support young people is a much larger project.
Ballesta and his councilor have to be more ambitious and creative.
Youth currently have many more needs, aspirations and motivations," says the councilor. Carmen Fructuoso recalls that in past plenary sessions the PSOE has demonstrated its commitment to this group by presenting several motions and proposals that, despite having been unanimously approved, have fallen on deaf ears.
"In the plenary session of May, for example, we proposed that municipal youth spaces be open in the mornings providing study classroom service, so that young people with fewer resources have access to a secure fiber optic connection and the possibility of using of computer equipment that adapt to your needs.
The motion was approved unanimously but the spaces are still unused.
There are no activities in the morning, only two of the three in the whole municipality are open on weekends and on Sundays all They are closed, "Fructuoso protests. "On the other hand we have the 'Networks Program' that the councilor promoted this weekend with great fanfare through her social networks.
I ask Rebeca Pérez to ask herself how many young people find it an attractive offer to take a walk with her in the center of the city discovering curiosities and legends ", asks Fructuoso.
"It seems to us that the interests of young people are elsewhere: music, photography, art, cinema, comics, video games ...
And this government team, in addition to making a stale and unattractive offer, forgets of the districts "assures the mayor, who keeps asking:" What about the 'Networks Program' in districts? Does it not arrive there for some specific reason or because, as always,Ballesta forgets that 60% of our young people do not live in the center but in districts? ". "From the Municipal Socialist Group we are going to propose that a participatory process be opened in which it is the young people themselves who transfer their claims for activities and leisure and in which all of them are counted on.
The situation is exceptional and they need to be heard and supported by their politicians.
Hopefully Ballesta understands and sees this reality soon.
