The renovated Pintor Pedro Flores garden will open before the end of the year with areas differentiated by age and more shaded spaces (04/11/2020)

The City Council is working on the complete renovation of this landmark park in the El Carmen neighborhood, which will open a children's play area, a calisthenics circuit and a multipurpose court, promoting outdoor sports in an area of ??2,500 m2.The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited the Pintor Pedro Flores garden this morning, a reference area for the residents of the El Carmen neighborhood that is being completely renovated and It will open before the end of the year, with three age-differentiated areas that promote outdoor sports: more modern and accessible playgrounds, a multipurpose court and a calisthenics circuit."This project responds to one of the strategic lines that guide the actions of this Government team: neighborhood participation, since it is an initiative framed within the Urban DNA Neighborhood Regeneration Plan", highlighted José Ballesta, who added that "the works that are being carried out in the garden, of 2,500 square meters, are facing their final stretch and will mean a notable improvement in this environment; an action aimed primarily at the 20,500 residents of the El Carmen neighborhood ”.Inclusive children's games and a calisthenics circuit with bars and climbing ropesThe garden is being renovated under the concept of 'playground'.

In this sense, the park will have three areas differentiated by age: one for the youngest with innovative children's games; another for older boys and girls, with a new sports court, and a third based on a calisthenics circuit for young and old.It should be noted that the children's play area will be inclusive and fully accessible to children with all kinds of needs.

For its part, the calisthenics circuit has been installed on a continuous rubber base, with bars and climbing ropes.

As a whole, the three differentiated areas will promote outdoor sports.A canopy will protect the little ones from high temperaturesLikewise, the project includes the planting of new shrubs, increasing the density of vegetation in the surroundings.

The park will also have a new irrigation network, which will be drip, minimizing losses.In addition, the children's play area will have a new canopy, which will minimize the effects of high temperatures, especially during the summer months, and which will protect the little ones from radiation.The works have also involved the renovation of the park's pavement with different formats, as well as the paving of the access corridors to the children's areas.Regeneration of neighborhoods with 'Urban DNA'The remodeling of the Pintor Pedro Flores garden is the result of a neighborhood participation process, with which different proposals were collected from residents to improve the neighborhood, this being one of them.In this sense, the project is part of the El Carmen Urban DNA Neighborhood Regeneration Plan, which, in turn, is part of the strategic plan 'Murcia.

ADN Urbano ', the intervention model of the Murcia City Council to improve the quality of life of families in the urban area, neighborhoods and districts, which includes the proposals of residents and different groups to carry out improvement actions.More than 190 works in the parks and gardens of the municipalityAs a whole, the City Council is executing more than 190 works in the parks and gardens of the Murcian neighborhoods and districts in the last year, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration.

Of the total, 85 major works correspond to comprehensive renovation works or new gardens (70 are already completed and 15 are underway), 100 new tents and 6 new canine recreation areas.On the other hand, 15,000 new trees and 140,000 cover plants are being planted through the Foresta and Hiedra plans, respectively.

3,000 banks are also being renovated in the parks and gardens of Murcia and its districts.The third park with the concept of 'playground' of the municipalityThe Pintor Pedro Flores garden will be the third park with the concept of 'playground' of the municipality, combining leisure, neighborhood coexistence and sports.

Las Tres Copas, in the La Flota neighborhood, and the José Antonio Camacho garden, in Ronda Sur, are also designed following this concept.Specifically, the ten principles on which this new concept of parks is based are:1.
