"Ballesta did not listen to the neighbors when they demanded the burial and still does not want to hear their voice about the urbanization project" (03/11/2020)

The Socialist spokesman, José Antonio Serrano, affirms that "if necessary we will lead a parallel debate to ensure the participation of each and every Murcian and Murcian who want to express their opinion on this great work that will affect the appearance of the municipality" The Municipal Socialist Group has once again missed the participation of neighborhood groups and associations this morning in the meeting organized by Mayor Ballesta to discuss the urbanization project of the area that will be released after the underground works.

"This weekend we have verified the constant complaint of some of these groups that feel displaced because they have not been called to be part of this consultation process that, in principle, is not democratic at all since it excludes part of the neighbors and neighbors who, in addition, have shown their interest in participating ", explains the Socialist spokesman, José Antonio Serrano. "It is curious how a municipal government led by Ballesta, which never broke a spear by the neighbors who demanded the burial and positioned themselves with their voice and their presence on the roads to prevent the arrival of the AVE on the surface, is the same as he wants to play a leading role in the urbanization of the immense area that remains free on the surface and, to top it all, without listening to all the groups, "the spokesperson declared. He even adds: "When the delegate of the Government Bernabé beat the neighbors, Ballesta was silent, when an AVE was projected on the surface, Ballesta was silent and now that the entire conflict is resolved, he comes to take the photos. In this sense, he adds that "it is clear that participation, whatever the whole of Murcian society says, does not matter to the mayor.

He showed it before, when he did not move a finger for the burial, and he shows it again now.

What these panels serve in a supposed participatory process is to ensure motifs that provide new photos and exhibits or portraits of the mayor.

It is what he likes and the only thing he deals with.

" Serrano states that not only are there neighborhood associations that ask to participate, it is that not even the Socialist Group, the main opposition formation in the Murcia City Council, is present in this process.

"Yes, there are the members of the Ballesta communication team, as technicians, which denotes that this is a paripé when it should be used so that for once Murcians feel that they are contributing to a project that is going to be the one that truly transforms the municipality , the one who lays the foundations of the new Murcia ". In this regard, the socialist spokesman affirms that "we are facing the only transforming project that the municipality of Murcia has, which is going to make the southern part of the city leave behind the fracture that more than 150 years of train tracks have caused.

What is going to be done now will clearly mark the future of these neighborhoods and it has to be above a specific party since it will involve the regeneration of disused land that is isolating neighborhoods.

" Therefore, "let's see if the PSOE and Diego Conesa had to come as government delegate to resolve the conflict on the tracks by taking the decision to bury the train and we will now have to solve the lack of participation by fostering a parallel debate with the participation of each and every one of Murcia and Murcia ".

And he assures that "if necessary, we will take action on the matter to lead this great social debate and be able to comment on the project that will transform the appearance of this municipality." Finally, he warns that "we do not trust Ballesta and its participatory processes" and cites the ADN as a recent example.

"We do not understand how the meetings of the social panel are carried out and the neighborhood associations of the affected areas such as Ronda Sur, Barriomar, Barrio del Carmen or Ermita del Rosario are not called," he concludes.
