For this reason, this year's edition focuses on the role played by local actions for urban recovery ”, the mayor highlighted during her speech."The Day of Cities is a recognition of the economic, social, environmental and innovative value of communities, their resilience in the face of the challenges that are presented to us now and their adaptation to the new, more sustainable urban normality", said the person in charge of Urban Agenda. The activity was attended by people from different countries and the intervention of local representatives from Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain, represented by the Murcian town hall, as well as UN Spain.

The councilor recalled that "in Murcia we have a long history of involving our citizens through participation in numerous aspects of governance, such as the revitalization and regeneration of neighborhoods or the promotion and promotion of cultural heritage."Within the framework of the Murcia 2030 Urban AgendaThis digital forum is one of the actions framed in the strategy of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda of the City Council, which is currently in the process prior to its drafting.

For Mercedes Bernabé, "dialogue between cities, as is the case with this activity, and training in general are fundamental tools for generating opinion and knowledge that allow us to lay the foundations for more sustainable and responsible policies."It should be remembered that the Murcian consistory was chosen by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda as a pilot experience for the implementation of the Action Plan of the Spanish Urban Agenda, together with the municipalities of A Coruńa, Castellón and Alfaro. In addition, Murcia is closely linked to the European Urban Agenda, as the leader of the working group of creative and cultural sectors of the Consortium of Culture and Cultural Heritage.

Currently, there are three Murcian interventions in this group, which are cultural reagents, currently under development, test tubes and the conquest of the street, the latter two in the initial phase.
