Urban Development executes 15 actions in the district of El Palmar to improve and create more parks, gardens and green areas (30/10/2020)

| One of the most far-reaching actions was the renovation of La Paz Park, where a living space has been enabled for the neighbors with more than 300 trees on an area of ??17,500 square meters | The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, led by the mayor José Guillén, has carried out 15 actions in the district of El Palmar to improve and create more parks, gardens and green areas. One of the most far-reaching actions has been carried out in La Paz Park, where a new, completely renovated living space has been made available to the 25,000 residents of El Palmar.

The garden covers an area of ??17,500 square meters, on which more than 300 trees have been planted. Among the works that have been carried out in El Palmar, improvements have been carried out in the pipican that is in the garden that is next to Pintor El Greco street and in the pipican that is on the corner of Primero de Mayo street with La Alberca avenue.

The curbs of the Almela Costa garden have also been repaired and the flowerbeds found on Pedro Cano avenues and Greco streets have been remodeled. In addition, the Department of Urban Development has promoted the renovation of the sports courts that are in the garden of Gabriel Luján street, in the Cronista Luis Valcárcel garden and in the La Paz garden, in Altamira street. In this line of action, almost 5 million have been invested and the Olivar, Cerezos, Perales, Paseo de los Cactus, Alhelíes, Limoneros, Paseo de las Acacias, Laurel, Acacias, Naranjos, Madroños, Moreras and Almendros squares have been rehabilitated and adapted, as well as renovated elements of deteriorated urbanization in several streets.

There has also been an increase in street furniture, improvements made in the execution of the installation of lights and adaptation of pavements, elimination of architectural barriers and improved accessibility to public spaces. The works in the La Paz park have also involved the renovation of the playgrounds, as well as its pavement.

The new games have been chosen for their resistance and are aimed at the development of physical activities in the open air, with elements such as climbing nets, climbing wall, slide, balance ropes and a swing for children with reduced mobility. Likewise, a 120-square-meter pergola has been installed in the children's play area to protect families from social radiation and heat, especially during the summer months. The action has been completed with the creation of a sandbox for the youngest girls and boys, leading to the establishment of two completely renovated children's areas differentiated by age, totaling 210 square meters.

In addition, the urban furniture has been renovated and expanded throughout the park surroundings, since 44 new benches have been fitted out. The City Council has also enabled a new irrigation system in La Paz Park that is controlled electronically and that allows irrigation to be adapted to the environmental conditions and water needs of each moment, optimizing energy savings.

Specifically, it has a power system that works through an electronic modem for data transmission, humidity sensors and anti-loss filters.
