The City Council is executing more than 190 works in the parks and gardens of neighborhoods and districts in the last year (27/10/2020)

The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration concludes the works of the Libertad Park, the new 6,000 m2 green space in the heart of Guadalupe that has a new picnic area, an ornamental fountain and a large pergola, among other elements.The Murcia City Council is executing more than 190 works in the parks and gardens of the Murcian neighborhoods and districts in the last year, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration.Of the total, 85 major works correspond to comprehensive renovation works or new gardens (70 are already completed and 15 are underway), 100 new tents and 6 new canine recreation areas.On the other hand, 15,000 new trees and 140,000 carpet plants are being planted through the Foresta and Hiedra plans, respectively.

3,000 banks are also being renovated in the parks and gardens of Murcia and its districts.In this context, of the 15,000 new trees mentioned, 10,000 will be distributed in parks and gardens throughout the municipality and 5,000 in the city, in alignment, which will mean the creation of new tree pits on sidewalks.Guadalupe opens a 6,000m2 green areaThe mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, reported today in this regard during his visit to the Libertad de Guadalupe park, which has been completely renovated and opens an ornamental fountain and a pergola of 200 square meters, as well as new more modern and safe playgrounds.“Working to improve the quality of life of the residents of our neighborhoods and districts is a priority objective for this Government team, opening, in this case, friendlier and healthier spaces, such as the renovated Libertad de Guadalupe park, of 6,000 square meters ”, José Ballesta highlighted during the event, who added that“ this green area joins other healthy areas of the municipality, such as Murcia Río and the Vía Verde, whose second phase will begin in 2021 ”.Picnic area with picnic tables, renovated petanque court and more modern playgroundsGuadalupe Park, which has been completely repaved, has a new picnic area with picnic tables and barbecues made with recycled materials, creating a new neighborhood meeting space, as well as more modern and safe children's games, opening up like a place for leisure and neighborhood coexistence in the heart of the hamlet.As for sports, it houses elements for all ages: geronto-gymnastics equipment, a new basketball court and a larger children's play area.

Likewise, the works have involved the renovation of the petanque court and the creation of a new lounge area, from which the activity that takes place on the petanque courts can be seen.Specifically, the City Council has allocated an investment of about 175,000 euros to the complete renovation of this park, which will directly benefit the almost 7,300 inhabitants of this district.New ornamental fountain and large 200 m2 pergolaWater also takes on a special role in this garden, which has a new ornamental fountain, which has low consumption lights to illuminate the water jets and an anemometer - a device to measure wind speed, which allows the management of the system of jets in the event of adverse weather conditions.This action is part of the Pool Plan, launched by the City Council to alleviate the effects of climate change through water.

It also has a new 200 m2 pergola, a measure that is part of the Shadow Plan, minimizing the effects of high temperatures, especially during the summer months.A 250 m2 urban tattoo encourages local artIn the amphitheater of the garden, the old decoration has been replaced by a more modern one with geometric and colorful artistic motifs, which involves the creation of an urban tattoo measuring 250 square meters in size.

The tattoo has been made with ecological paint.Likewise, in the central area of ??the park, new elements have been incorporated, among which a large parterre surrounded by benches finished in slate stands out, which function as artistic and room elements.Murcia Smart City: more sustainable smart irrigation systemThe garden irrigation system has been modernized and is controlled by satellite, telematically, minimizing losses.

This system allows the irrigation to be adapted to the environmental conditions and water needs of each moment.The modernization of the irrigation system is part of the Murcia Smart City municipal strategy, which is developed through the MiMurcia project, the smart city model that puts the latest technological innovations at the service of people, improving the quality of life of Murcians and environmental sustainability.Plan Ivy: 1,200 m2 of bushesThe Libertad park will also have hedges and covering plants in an area of ??1,200 square meters, as well as aromatic plants that increase the biodiversity of the environment.

In addition, nest boxes and birdbaths have been installed.
