The PSOE proposes a 100% discount on the rate of chairs and tables to the catering establishments for the year 2021 (25/10/2020)

| Councilor Enrique Lorca points out that "the new time restrictions added to that of the capacity limitation require measures extraordinary events to help the sector "| The Municipal Socialist Group, aware that the hospitality industry is one of the sectors that is being harmed the most by the coronavirus crisis, considers that "the rate of chairs and tables should be reduced to 100% during the year 2021" Socialist councilor Enrique Lorca, who has held talks with the hospitality sector during this pandemic, explains that "most establishments are made up of self-employed workers and SMEs and despite the aid that many of them are receiving from the Government of Spain (and few since the Regional Government), is leaving them in a very delicate situation, the new time restrictions added to the capacity limitation require extraordinary measures to help the sector, as they have been maintaining from professional associations ". It also maintains that "we understand that from the administration closest to the citizens, as in our case is the Murcia City Council, we have to collaborate with this sector that generates so much employment that is so important for the municipal economy and would serve to demonstrate with facts that it really is committed to it in a clear and decisive way ", the councilor also adds" we believe that it is fair that the 100% discount is granted in 2021 of the rate of chairs and tables to bars, restaurants and cafes , just as municipalities in the Murcia region and throughout Spain have carried out ".

And in this sense the councilor highlights "that this position is the one that we have been defending in all the meetings that we held in the first wave of the pandemic with the City Council and for this reason we abstained in the vote on the 2020 tax ordinances because we consider it unambitious " Enrique Lorca points out that "terraces are the lifeline for many businesses.

Unfortunately, the Murcia City Council has not been able to give an agile response that the sector deserves in terms of expanding terraces.

It is essential that it be endowed more staff to the services than Urban Quality so that the files that have been opened are expedited and that no problem is generated with the modifications that the terraces will have with the entry of cold (stoves, enclosures, etc) ".

Finally, the councilor adds that "you could also see the possibility of carrying out temporary street cuts and using more parking spaces whenever possible and not harming the neighborhood or going against other ordinances of our municipality."
