Citizens ask the central government if it provides an alternative to the passage of dangerous goods through the underground tunnels in Murcia (24/10/2020)

The training wants to know if Fomento has planned a surface line for the more than 4,600 tank cars that cross the capital from CartagenaThe parliamentary group of Citizens has registered in the Congress of Deputies a series of questions to the central Government about the safety of the transport of dangerous goods in the Region of Murcia.

Specifically, the liberal training wants to know if Development has planned "an alternative on the surface to prevent more than 4,600 wagons loaded with dangerous goods from circulating under the urban layout through the underground tunnels." The spokesman for the orange parliamentary group in the Regional Assembly, Juan José Molina, has warned that -according to the latest National Map of Dangerous Goods Transport Flows- “every year an average 137,000 tons of dangerous goods circulate through the neighborhoods of Santiago Mayor, El Carmen, San Pío X and Barriomar, as well as the district of Nonduermas and the municipality of Alcantarilla ”.This situation will also be aggravated by the underground works, "which will transfer this transfer of high-risk materials to urban tunnels, with the risk to the safety of its inhabitants that this implies.""With the current plans, no solution will be found to the vulnerability of the population, so from Ciudadanos we want to know if Fomento is aware of the danger and if it has an alternative planned, which could pass through an exclusive surface line for these goods, most of which come from the Cartagena energy hub ”, added regional deputy Valle Miguélez, president of the Industry Commission of the Regional Assembly.

The training has also transferred to the central government in this question registered by the national parliamentarian María Muñoz, if it plans to update the data of the aforementioned National Map of Dangerous Goods Transport Flows, "whose latest update dates from 2016 as the regulations establish be annual ”.
